Written in a wry style that&#8217;s not afraid to make fun of the traditions of the Northeast, you&#8217;ll find lots of yummy food and some history too. Of course there is a recipe for &#8220;chowdah&#8221; but not every recipe requires you to &#8220;pahk yah cah.&#8221; Sidenotes will tell you about recipes from the 1700s or 1800s, and it&#8217;s fun to see what has (or hasn&#8217;t) changed since then. The food tends toward the comfort side of things (and there are no nutritional facts) but you&#8217;ll find every food group and everything is wholesome, so presumably not everything will go directly to your hips. There&#8217;s a full index and a short appendix, and even some food quizzes.
