The Yankee Chef: Feel Good Food for Every KitchenThe Yankee Chef: Feel Good Food for Every Kitchen by Jim Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

THE YANKEE CHEF has every recipe you’ve ever considered related to the East Coast, and then some. Written in a wry style that’s not afraid to make fun of the traditions of the Northeast, you’ll find lots of yummy food and some history too. Of course there is a recipe for “chowdah” but not every recipe requires you to “pahk yah cah.” Sidenotes will tell you about recipes from the 1700s or 1800s, and it’s fun to see what has (or hasn’t) changed since then. The food tends toward the comfort side of things (and there are no nutritional facts) but you’ll find every food group and everything is wholesome, so presumably not everything will go directly to your hips. There’s a full index and a short appendix, and even some food quizzes. Pick this one up if you’re interested in good food; keep reading for the history.

I received this as a digital ARC via Netgalley and the publisher.
