thank God this computer is working….

waiting for a gel to run, yet again. So, here’s the Friday Five.
1. What was/is your favorite subject in school? Why? at various times in my life: art, biology and/or the sciences. Because, at different points in my life, I wanted to be an artist or a scientist. Occasionally I wanted to be a construction worker, but only if I got to work with wooden blocks 🙂
2. Who was your favorite teacher? Why?Mrs. Seppe…Mrs. Coleman…Mrs. Bruggeman. All elementary school. Mr. Shoenberger cause he was just cool. He had live animals in his classroom and he had a ponytail. My chemistry teacher Dr. B, who helped me get an A…Mrs. Blackenstein even though she gave me my first C in freshman english…she was just so damn funny 🙂 and Dr. Genin, cause he got so mixed up when teaching dynamics and trying to help us on our design project that he’d have to start the entire blackboard-covering equation over again…just like me.
3. What is your favorite memory of school?umm. going to state senior year, all by myself, and getting 6th place in the state of Missouri.
4. What was your favorite recess game?Red Rover, definitely. You got to run fast and show your strength.
5. What did you hate most about school? Math. As I’ve said, I am a math-impaired engineer.fridayfivefridayfivefridayfive

I miss everybody. I wish I could talk to y’all more. I wanted to get online last night but I was too tired.

That and the fact that we were watching the Concert for America. Man, there were some good performances. Josh Groban sang the national anthem and there was a wonderful symphonic rendition of “A Gift to be Simple”. And later on Leno the Goo Goo Dolls sang “American Girl.” Sigh. One day I’ll have a rock band 🙂

yeah. Waiting for a gel to run.

I can’t believe it’s been a year

Standard

This time last year I was still in school, hadn’t started either of my blogs, hadn’t started running the best track season I’d ever have, was still freaking out about Transport phenomena, and didn’t know to wish Coach a happy birthday.
I’ll light a candle later tonight. Never Forget was the Club 101 phrase of the day. And there’s no way I ever could. I guess every generation has its “Kennedy moment” but I wish this one didn’t have to be so horrific.
I have deep regret that I never got to go to New York before the towers were destroyed. But I do hope to someday make it to the memorial. I saw it on tv once, the two shining columns of light streaming up to the sky. Never Forget indeed.
life is precious and fleeting: make the most of it. much love to all of you, and my prayers and compassion for the victims and their families. God Bless.

Hey hon! Did you miss me? I sure missed ya.

Read the last chapter for Human Development and it was good. I loved how you ended it. But I’m sure you got my comment on your other blog.

Legolas… *THUD!* I love that there are new pics finally! Its about blasted! time you know?

About my news, its not that big anymore unfortunately. I’ll let you know what it is either when I see you online or email. I would call ya but my sis is in town and she doesn’t know about my online friends. If she did, she would ban me from the internet.

*muwah!*

Let my heart be wise. It is the gods’ best gift.

— -Euripedes (c.480 – 406 BC), Greek playwright

Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear.

This or That

1. Paper or plastic? plastic… unless it’s snowy outside.

2. Stripes or plaid?plaid. Stewart or Campbell.

3. Baseball or football? Baseball. I don’t understand why people feel the need to ram into people over a little ball of leather.

4. TV or movies? TV on weeknights. Movies on weekends.

5. Craig Kilborn or Conan O’Brien? Umm, neither. I’m not up that late. Or rather, if I am up that late I’m not watching tv.

6. Amazon or BN.com? Amazon.

7. Yahoo or Google? Google. You always find something.

8. Star Trek or Star Wars? Star Wars. I want to be a Jedi.

9. Cats or dogs? Cats. Especially the big ones. Most especially mountain lions.

10. Is that for here or to go? I like to eat in, usually, but to go means you can watch whatever you want at home, or read during dinner…

I won, I won!

Look at that. An unsolicited award! Whoohoo smile

Thank you.
btw, I got my bow and arrows and quiver last night. So now all I’d have to do is varnish the bow and maybe decorate it a little, and see what I can do about modifying the quiver. I guess we’ll see what happens… and I might try to paint the arrows, being as they’re orange and not green…

So… the renaissance festival.
I had a blast. Well, not a blast. A good time. I would love to work there, be paid to dress up in medieval costume and be in character all day. I’d hate the sweat though, sigh.
So we almost got killed on the way there. After I was late to meet Jess and she of course was early. Way early. I of course had a DNA isolation that didn’t get done till late. Erm. My fault, again. I suck. So we hit major rush hour traffic. Then Josh her ex brought us pizza cause he works at Domino’s but he had to stay and cover for someone, so we were late(r). Both Jess and I spent most of the ride sewing. I spent half, anyway. I just had to sew some snaps on my cloak, which wasn’t really worth it as it was too damn hot to wear a cloak anyway. But I did it. Jess only had pieces of her bodice cut out, but not sewn together. She ended up not finishing it. She just wore what she had last year.
There was almost a dead body in the Conoco station next to the hotel. I’m kidding. The convenience store next to the pumps was empty, and the alarm went off. We didn’t take anything. We were honest. So we got free sodas smile We were just worried that maybe someone was hurt and couldn’t get up.
help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!
Jess also had to do homework. She had to film two hours of video at one location, to pick up ambient noise, one hour at one time of day, the other hour at another time. So we spent a lot of time walking around with a video camera.
I didn’t take nearly enough pictures. Although I can say that I was squeezed into a corset. And looked damn good too. I even got a rose.
Our hotel room had an ant problem.
They have the best shaved ice I’ve ever had there. Too expensive, but it actually tastes fruity.
Hammered dulcimers make some of the most beautiful music in the world.
Jess definitely gets into moods. So do I, I guess.
the guy wearing the fop makeup was probably really cute. Wish I could get a cute guy. Of course all the men on the trip were taken. Sort of.
I danced the maypole. Too bad there weren’t enough guys to kiss.
There’s more. Like the Human Chess match with a cameo by Harry Potter and how I didn’t get to shoot any arrows. Where is my bow and arrow set anyway? Erm.
Why don’t you im me or send me an email and ask me more? Hell, leave a comment.
