1. When you take a vacation, do you ever suffer from Internet withdrawal? Or maybe the nagging urge to blog or read blogs? Or are you glad to be away? Yeah, I do, but it’s mainly that people are sending me email that will clutter my inbox if I don’t check it. I hate spam. Have I mentioned that before?

2. Have you ever been “furloughed” (told to take time off work without pay) or laid off? How did that impact your family dynamics? Your finances? If not to you, have you seen it happen to anyone you know? How did they handle it? I haven’t been “laid off” per se but I have been told there wasn’t enough work for me. This was partly due to my own stupidness, but it still sucked. Since I live with my parents it wasn’t all that much of a stretch on the finances, but now that I’ve got a new job I’m helping out with the car repayments and utility bills. It would be glorious if we could win the lottery. My dad was laid off sometime when I was younger…I don’t remember much about it.

3. If you fell on hard times, what is are some non-essential reoccurring luxury expenses (cable TV, TiVo subscription, cigarettes, high-speed net connection, newspaper, daily Starbucks coffee, etc.) you would give up to save money? I guess it would have to be the internet connection, buying books/cds, etc. We really don’t do all that much luxurious…we don’t even eat out that much. So it’s difficult to cut back sometimes.

4. On the same thought, what is the one non-essential expense you would NOT give up? Cable, because my mom needs it when she’s working, and it allows us to see fewer movies in the theater and watch them at home instead.

5. Would you ever ask your family (parents, in-laws, relatives) for financial assistance? What would be some of your concerns about asking for help? Have you ever asked for it before? Did it go well? Well, I *live* with my parents, and they paid for my college, so yeah, it went well 🙂 I have a dream that someday I’ll be able to help them pay off all their bills and buy them a new house with a greenhouse in the back and a workroom with a sink. I mean to pay them back.

6. Has a friend or relative ever borrowed money from you? Who were they and how much did they want? Did you ever get paid back, or did it matter? Did you feel compelled to keep an eye on them to see if they spent it wisely? Mmm. Nothing more than a few dollars, really…

7. Imagine you won a tax-free gift of $7,000. The only stipulation on the gift is that it must not be invested or saved, and must be spent before 2004. How would you use the money? New Powerbook, baby! And a home theather, and whatever’s left over is spent on books and music.

BONUS: Whatever happened to unity? I think it went the way of the dodo.
