::Insomnia, the Cure for Sleep::

Onesome: InsomniaEver have it? Some do and some don’t, but have you ever been hounded awake for that endless hour after hour with no hope of sleep? …or does the very act of touching head to pillow put you out for the count?

Thankfully I rarely ever ‘just can’t sleep.’ Most of the time, especially recently (geez I’m getting old), I’ll just read for a while before bed and that puts me to sleep pretty quickly. Used to be that I could stay up as late as I needed to to finish the paragraph, the chapter, the book…but now it’s like, no, gotta sleep right n–

Twosome: the cure Hey, if you do have the occasional bout or chronic insomnia, what do you do about it? Work? Read? Try cures? Hmmm… Did you ever find one that worked? Er. See above? If I really need to I’ll get up and walk around a bit, but thankfully that need doesn’t show up very often. Reading is the best. It’s almost like I need to read something before bed.

Threesome: for sleepFemale/male, young/not so young, we all need varying amounts of sleep. What’s your personal sleep cycle? Five hours? Ten hours? …and if you had a choice, what would be your personal sleep cycle? …and yes, ‘All day long’ is a valid answer I *get* about seven hours of sleep a night. I can survive on four (or less, even none) but not for very long. I can even run very well on five-ish hours a night (as long as I can get a few winks on the bus to the track meet 😉 ) but if I get just six I’m cranky all day. My sleep dream is to sleep until I wake up naturally. This happens rarely, as you might guess. Even on weekends I don’t get to do this often. But when I can, it’s usually 2 or 3 in the morning for bedtime and then sleeping until noon. Ah well. Guess I should get up earlier so there’s more time in the day, but what can I say? Eat, sleep, read (maybe write occasionally) and I’m a happy girl.
