You will be lovely and it will be wonderful, I have no doubts! Also, you can always do what Scott and I did, focus on a couple things you really want and wing the rest! No regrets at all, but of course we were very young. 🙂

I understand the caffeine thing, I hate it when that happens. Wedding planning is so overwhelming. Even the very small outdoor ceremony we had required more planning than I’ve ever done since then, except maybe for baking wedding cupcakes but that’s a whole other ball of insanity… delicious, sticky insanity. 🙂 (((HUGS))), it’s going to be magical and perfect no matter what!

When we were planning we bought a book that was broken down into chapters “12 months before” … “6 months before” … and so on down to hours on the day itself. Really helpful framework even though we didnt do 1/2 of what it suggested!

We’re sort of figuring next fall, so a year or so. Still, the idea of picking where I want to have a meaningful event a year in advance…I’m hitting up B&N tonight for bridal mags and hopefully a planner, and Brent Weeks’ newest.

It will feel sooo good to have a couple of the biggest decisions out of the way, and with that breathing room opened up you’ll get used to the weirdness of Planning A Day and fitting into some abstract idea of what a wedding is. That is so hard. But as you experience it and then remember it, it will just seem like something that was meant to be, because you two did it. BTW I enjoyed reading offbeatbride.com…it was a way of learning to enjoy all sorts of possibilities and stories and get perspective on the big picture without feeling pressure to copy any details (e.g. get a red-splattered gown and have a zombie-themed wedding…but you can, if you want!).

Thanks, Faith. It boggles my mind a little how much planning has to be done so far in advance. I also might have had too much caffeine at lunch.

How long do you have until the big day?

We completely punted on the checklist for the day before the wedding: one item, marked “Relax”.

I recall you checking the item off the list, pausing for about 2 heartbeats then asking “What’s next?”
