I am so grateful that Wash U provides free Metro passes for its employees. I know it’s mainly to reduce parking congestion on its rapidly dwindling lots, but it saves me a lot of money in terms of parking fees and gas, if not time. I wish more people would take public transit, but I realize it’s not practical for some. St. Louis needs more routes (both bus and train), but it won’t get them until folks realize that even if you don’t use transit yourself, it’s good for the city overall. Maybe if there were some free routes, we’d see a change for the better in usage.
