Friday Five (.org)
When was the last time you…

1. …sent a handwritten letter? If you count the thank you notes I sent after graduation, a couple of months. Otherwise… I’d have to say sometime last fall when I made my own stationary to send something to my grandparents.
2. …baked something from scratch or made something by hand? umm. Sometimes I help cook, does that count? My mom wanted me to make a blackberry pie last night, but I didn’t think that would work too well… and I made a couple of hemp necklaces during the last track trip in May.
3. …camped in a tent? Sometime in 1998 or early ’99. *sniff* God I miss camping. And riding horses. That’s what the summer should be about, right? yeah…
4. …volunteered your time to church, school, or community? umm. I used to do that all the time in Girl Scouts… but I sort of lost time to do that. Everyone wanted to do volunteerable things on saturdays. I was always at a track meet on saturdays. But we did do some community service in Showchoir. We got paid, just a little, so maybe that doesn’t count.
5. …helped a stranger? Hmm. Well, I directed a couple of people around the floor the other day… does that count? I don’t see a lot of strangers. I’m in a lab all day.

Speaking of volunteering, Mighty Mud Mania is July 27. That’s the place where a) you get covered in mud and have a great time, all in the name of charity b) TREND used to volunteer there every year (my high school’s substance-free group) with the National Guard and c) where Chris met Leslie and basically proceeded to wreck the last two years of high school for me. I’m not bitter. Really. Sigh. Amazing how the past never lets go, huh?
