1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? I am currently a research assistant at a lab on the med school campus, and will continue to be, at least for a little while, but in a different lab. This is sort of what I chose to be doing; after all, it is in a stem cell lab, but I’m not getting as much experience with stem cells as I want to be having. And I was kind of hoping for one of those 50K BME jobs they kept telling us about. Erm. Not yet, I suppose.
2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be?A writer-artist-Broadway Musical actress-web designer for a BME company. Yeah. Notice how the first things have nothing to do with engineering?
3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? They’re both artists. My dad works for the newspaper as a layout artist and my mom has her own business in hand-cast paper art. This had an influence in that I found out that artists don’t make a lot of money, and I’m determined to make enough to build my mom a studio.
4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family?A family? Not yet. But having a life? yes.
5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why?
The easiest is the one you want to do. The hardest is the one you’re just learning. ![]()
