Well, if you haven’t gotten the subtle hints I’ve dropped the last few days, it’s my birthday. I’m 22 today, and my present to myself is that I’m seeing Dave Matthews Band with Hallie. I got an impromptu birthday singing just after I brushed my teeth (of course), and my cake was a fortune cookie. My fortune was “an absent friend will visit you” or something like that, which is true, being that I haven’t seen Hallie all summer. There was another fortune in the cookie… written on the same paper as sits by the phone for messages 
it predicted a bright future. I love my parents. It’s my parakeet’s birthday as well. Happy birthday Sapphire! He’s 9 this year. Hard to believe I’ve had him since I was 13.
