Something Corporate
“I Woke Up In A Car”

i woke up in new york city

from my sleep behind the wheel

caught a train to Poughkeepsie

and time stood still

she wrote me a letter from san diego

to qualify her luck

these flights connect through arizona

but i think i’ll stay stuck

so here i am

here i am

well i woke up in a car

i traced away the fog

so i could see the mississippi on her knees

i’ve never been so lost

i’ve never felt so much at home

please write my folks and throw away my keys

i woke up in a car

i woke up in a car

i met a girl who kept tattoos for homes

that she had loved

if i were her i’d paint my body

until all my skin was gone

she wrote me a letter as we passed through rockford

she said she won’t forget

maybe i do maybe i don’t

but i know i haven’t yet

so here i am

here i am

well i woke up in a car

i traced away the fog

so i could see the mississippi on her knees

i’ve never been so lost

i’ve never felt so much at home

please write my folks and throw away my keys

i woke up in a car

i woke up in a car

and maybe i could live forever

if not ever i had known

that you’d be waiting here whenever i am all alone

but here i am

well i woke up in a car

i traced away the fog

so i could see the mississippi on her knees

i’ve never been so lost

i’ve never felt so much at home

please write my folks and throw away my keys

well i woke up in a car

i traced away the fog

so i could see the mississippi on her knees

i’ve never been so lost

i’ve never felt so much at home

please write my folks and throw away my keys

i woke up in a car

i woke up in a car

i woke up in a car

So I started the tenth book in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series on monday night. I finished it last night at about 1:30 am. So that’s two books since friday. Man, I couldn’t get enough. I was just a little disappointed at the ending of the tenth book, but if I tell you why I’d ruin it for you. But damn, getting there was great. I don’t know when the next book comes out and the website hasn’t been updated for a while. I’ll have to wait till paperback though. Did I tell you how much I detest buying hardcover books?
I bought the entire series so far last night. Now I have all ten smile We’ll see how long it takes me to get through all of them.
See, this is why I started rereading the Lord of the Rings in September; I knew there would be other books occupying my time occasionally. This way I’ll always have something to read smile
It was a good day at work. There were bands in my PCR. This is a good thing, smile and nod. And vote for my site! Come on, I’m in last place *sniff*
Good night, all… ce’arra *in case you’re wondering, I want to write even more now cause Laurell K Hamilton lives in St. Louis. I want to be just like her smile Hope my writing gives people shivers like hers does to me.

This or That

1. DisneyLand or DisneyWorld? Disney World, although I like Universal Studios better than either of them. Never been to Disney Land before, so maybe I shouldn’t compare.

2. Amusement park or Themed park? Roller coaster park!

3. Seashore or Mountains? Mountains.

4. Hotel/Motel or rental house? Hotel.

5. Guided tour or aimless meandering? Aimless meandering. My stride is longer than most people’s, so I get places quicker. I don’t like having read the info at the side of the painting or whatever then have to wait for the guide to catch up. I read quick, too.. did I mention that?

6. Drive or Fly or Boat? Flying, but only if it’s long enough to actually make it worth getting out a book and your headphones. Otherwise drive.

7. Close or far away from home? Close, but vacations far away.

8. Daytrip or by the week? Week.

9. Camping in a tent or the Holiday Inn? Camping, if I can get it.

10. Rent a car or drive your own? Drive my own, if I had one.

so you can try it
1. Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever had any kind of ghostly encounter? Yes and no. I think it could be possible to hang around, but I’ve never had any reason to believe it.
2. Do you like scary movies? If so, name one movie that genuinely frightened you. Actually, I hate scary movies. I just don’t like it when they choreograph it so you’re set up to jump at certain moments. Therefore, I tend not to watch them. The closest I can remember is when I watched ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ with James Larsen, it was a sort of date and we held hands, luckily, cause I was scared and needed someone to hold on to. Sounds silly to admit it about such a cheesy movie, but I guess I spook easily when I see it. If it’s a scary book, I can just read faster or not visualize the images.
sad thought though: James is dead. He died in a car accident when he drove his car into a tree. He had epilepsy, but it hadn’t occured in long enough that they let him get a driver’s liscence. But it came back while he was driving… I miss him. Everyone liked him, and he was nice to me even though I think I was laying on the flirting pretty thick. He was a freshman when I was a senior, and he was my only date after Chris. Sigh. I still can’t believe he’s dead.
That was morbid, I’m sorry. I just can’t believe he’s gone.
I’m so tired of being alone, so hurry up and get here and take my mind off that.

PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 2.41

1. What’s the most expensive meal you’ve ever eaten? What was the occasion? Was it worth it? There was a meal with my dad’s side of the family that went somewhere around $150 at an authentic Chinese restaurant (as opposed to americanized chinese). I don’t usually see the check though. Thats Daddy’s job.

2. What do you like to do when nobody is looking? Read romance novels. Write my story. Illustrate my story.

3. What’s your special purpose? I have one? Do you know what it is? If you find out, please tell me, cause I have no clue. I don’t even have a niche at work yet.

4. Do you like Autumn? If so, why? If not, tell me about your favorite season. I like autumn because of the temperature and the fall color. Who doesn’t? I know it can be called the season of dying, but at least the trees look pretty while doing it. You can run without sweating so much, although sometimes you can freeze…. I like summer, cause it’s pooltime and funtime, and traditionally associated with vacation, although that has definitely changed… I like winter if it snows. and I like spring because of track season.

5. Ever recommended a movie to someone only to have them hate it? Which movie? Did you feel uncomfortable about that? I can’t think of one. We usually only go to movies if we really want to see them, and would only recommend them if we really liked it.

6. I’ve had hay fever all day! Sniffles, sneezing, I tell ya, it’s awful! Do you have any allergies? Anything that just gets you down for the count? Occasionally I have hayfever, but I take my Nasalcrom and I’m good to go. And if my nose is running, all I have to do is actually start running, and it stops, lol 🙂

7. Do you like mixed drinks? What is your favorite? As long as we’re here how about you order me something too? Just “suprise me!” I adore amaretto sours. Give me a strawberry margarita and I’m in heaven. I’d like to try a Jack Frost, as recommended by Rae…so why don’t you have one of those and tell me what it’s like?

BONUS: Why do we scream at each other?

We do? I usually just get angry and pout.

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter

Standard

So I’ve really gotten into this series of books. Written by Laurell K Hamilton, I guess you’d say they’re horror/sci-fi/fantasy, but whatever genre they are, the book that I’m reading, Obsidian Butterfly (it happens to be the 9th in the series, and man am I glad that I’ve got the 10th as well) not only has a cool name but gives me the shivers to boot. Any book that can send that thrill up and down my body goes straight to the top of my hot-damn-o-meter. And it’s about vampires and shape-shifters and magic and is almost too gory. Thank God it’s a book and not a movie. I seriously need to buy all the books.
tangent: sigh. I remember when books were three dollars each, even for the larger paperbacks. I bought these two at a drugstore, so they were discounted, but they’re normally $7.50 each. Egad, when did printing 596 pages start to cost so much?
The funny thing is, I’ll probably go out and buy all of them instead of waiting for them if I ordered them online. Besides, I’m weird and want them all to have the cover designed the same way. Yes, analness can have its price. Go buy the books anyway.
