This or That

1. Stuffing: baked inside the turkey, or separately? Separately, so you can eat more later 🙂

2. Fresh or frozen turkey? Fresh, I think, though my grandparents are the ones cooking it.

3. Cranberry sauce: jellied or whole berry? Jellied, with the marks from the can opener 🙂 sliced in a pretty seashell bowl. Not kidding.

4. Stay home or visit friends/relatives? Grandparent’s farm!

5. Do you cook Thanksgiving dinner, or let someone else do it? Grandma makes the desserts…Grandpa sort of makes the turkey (though Grandma got up at 4 am last year to put it in…) and the rest of us bring lasagna or deli meats…

6. Traditional turkey dinner, or an alternative (such as vegetarian)? Good Lord, traditional. For days.

7. Regular potatoes or sweet potatoes? Mashed! Either way. Though I suppose I’d rather have regular mashed.

8. Homemade gravy, or the jarred stuff? This is my grandma we’re talking about…homemade, of course, with the gibblets…

9. What part of the turkey do you prefer…dark or white meat? Both. White when it’s just out of the oven, dark for leftovers.

10. After dinner: football or Christmas movies? Um. Neither? usually a walk in the fields. Sometimes a movie, sometimes games…

and a day late, but eh…

The Monday Mission

1. Have you ever made a wish that came true? Well, sometimes. Not recently. But I did pray to God that we would win outdoor conference and that I could stay in first place, and I did…so my prayers were answered. Oh yeah, and can’t forget about the fact that I actually graduated. The wish that I most desire to come true hasn’t yet. Erm.

2. How about any wishes that you are happy never came true? Umm…I don’t think so. I don’t usually wish for things that are bad…hmm.

3. Do you like who you are? Are you the person you hoped you would become? I wish I were smarter. I know that sounds weird, but true. And I wish I was a little bit taller. Not a lot, just an inch or so… I’m working on getting to the professional part of my dreams. Slowly but squirrelly.

4. I recently found some job applications that I never turned in. Back

in 1986 I intended to apply at “County Seat” and “Chess King” but got an offer

from Penny’s (where I worked all through college). It was a good thing, since

only one of the three is still around. Have you ever applied for positions, or

had any interviews, where you later are glad you never got the job?
I’ve only applied to a few places, and I’ve gotten into all of them. I’ve never actually had “interviews” but I’ve met with the bosses. I’m glad I’ve had an easy time of it, but I’m worried that when I actually have to do an interview I won’t know what to do. I know there are some places that I thought about applying to, like AE or Famous-Barr, and I’m glad I didn’t do those, but I never even started the app, so it doesn’t really count, does it?

5. While on the topic of career opportunities, what was your very first

“real” job? What job was the most embarrassing?
Working at Grone Cafeteria. This is sort of a deja vu question and I’m sure you remember how I was the beverage girl, occasionally hot foods and bakery…

6. Speaking of news, have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet? Such as being in the newspaper, on television, linked on a high-profile site or otherwise caught in the spotlight of the media? I’ve been in the paper, many papers, rather. Mostly for sport-related things, couple of times for Girl Scouts, once or twice for high school achievements…and I had a “achieving climax” (their words, not mine…unfortunate, I know) vignette in the Hatchet, the WU yearbook, for a senior profile. Oh, and I was on television once for being scholar athlete in hs. I’m always in the spotlight with my folks 🙂

7. In the USA, many of us will celebrate Thanksgiving this week. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving (or something like it)? Do you enjoy getting together will your extended family for these types of celebrations? Heck yes! I love visiting my grandparents. The food (see above) is so good, and I’m close to all my family. Besides, I get to sleep and go exploring in the forest. What could be better? They’ve even got internet now 🙂

BONUS: Where is the tenderness? I don’t know, but I’m looking for it….

Pensive.

I don’t know why, but this song has been on repeat for the last few days. Some of it really resonates with me.
I’m With You-Avril Lavigne
I’m standing on a bridge
I’m waiting in the dark
I thought that you’d be here by now
There’s nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I’m listening but there’s no sound
Isn’t anyone trying to find me?
Won’t somebody come take me home
It’s a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won’t you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don’t know who you are
But I… I’m with you
I’m with you
I’m looking for a place
Searching for a face
Is anybody here I know
‘Cause nothing’s going right
And everything’s a mess
And no one likes to be alone
Isn’t anyone trying to find me?
Won’t somebody come take me home
It’s a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Wont you take me by the hand
take me somewhere new
I don’t know who you are
But I… I’m with you
I’m with you
Oh why is everything so confusing
Maybe I’m just out of my mind
Yea yea yea
It’s a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won’t you take me by the hand
take me somewhere new
I don’t know who you are
But I… I’m with you
I’m with you
Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don’t know who you are
But I… I’m with you
I’m with you
Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don’t know who you are
But I… I’m with you
I’m with you
I’m with you…
and God do I want this: Legolas’ bow. It’s only $365.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Mom is 49 today. But she’s still got a year left before she’s 50, and you better believe it… I got her two cds, hopefully she’ll like them. It’s nice that she has a stereo now, cause that means I can get her cds…sad but true, I am a fan of easy shopping.
Why does no one believe that I carved that <a href="aspire/gallery/upload/girl/legopumpkin.jpg” target=”_blank”>pumpkin? Yes, I did use a pattern, but I carved it myself, I even have the stains on my shirt to prove it…

John F Kennedy was assasinated. I remember when Beauty and the Beast came out it premiered on the 22nd of Nov, and how it was sad that such a great movie came out on the same day as such a tragic event. I was 10 or so, already thinking deep thoughts, lol. Of course, there were several music cds, etc, released last year on Sept. 11, and it’s always a little wrenching to see that as the release date.
On a lighter (or darker, as the case may be) I’ve been writing more on Decadence and TMC. Decadence is already getting gory. Definitely an influence of the books I’ve been reading smile I hope I can actually go through with it.
I finally developed the pictures from graduation and this summer and this fall…course it’s only three rolls. There are some pretty wacky pics in there. You can see some of them here, don’t laugh too hard.
I want advance tickets to TTT, damnit! All the sites I’ve tried don’t seem to have them for this area. Phooey. lol. I’m not obsessed, really. Only 25 days left!

An architect, an artist, and an engineer were discussing whether it was better to spend time with the wife or a mistress.

The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid foundation for an enduring relationship.

The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because of the passion and mystery he found there.

The engineer said, “I like both.”

Engineer: “Yeah. If you have a wife and a mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other woman, and you can go to the lab and get some work done.”

sigh.

You Might be an Engineer If…

This is obviously geared to guys and we’ve already discussed how I am not really an engineer, I’m only one-third engineer (1. Bio 2. Medical 3. Engineering), but it is kind of sad which ones still apply. A point for you if you can figure out which ones.
Buying flowers for your girlfriend or spending the money to upgrade your RAM is a moral dilemma.
The salespeople at Radio Shack can’t answer any of your questions.
You are at an air show and know how fast the skydivers are falling.

You know what http:// stands for.
You see a good design and still have to change it.
You spent more on your calculator than you did on your wedding ring.
You still own a slide rule and you know how to use it.

This blog has been active for a year…can you believe it? I can’t imagine life without it, but it’s been such a short time…I feel like I should celebrate somehow, but I suppose I should just make a new layout…Hope you’ve enjoyed the ride. What a long strange trip it’s been.

Ring Thing…after a while

Standard

in case you’re wondering, here’s the link: http://www.lilithofsherwood.com/rings-thing/
There seems to be a trend of including more and more on the DVD release of a film.
Can this trend be taken too far? Has it already gone too far? Or is the more always the merrier?

Well, I’m certainly glad they did it in this case. The LotR:FotR Collector’s Edition DVD is a masterpiece to say the least. SO much information. I still haven’t gotten through anything but the movie and a few of the interviews. I like having the information available, but I know that most movies have more stuff generated that we’ll never see that if every movie came out with stuff like this we’d be broke in a year. I don’t especially like duplicating movies that I have, but in this case I think it was worth it. I guess what I think is good is put the extras on one disc, or two at most. I don’t think any of the other LotR movies will have such a big set, being that most of the behind the scenes stuff was in this edition. But I can’t wait to see the extended versions of the other two movies. I don’t mind sitting through extra hours of footage. I’m a LotR freak and happy with it.
BTW, advance tickets for TTT are supposed to come out on Friday. I’ll be looking!
