I got the Special Collector’s Extended version of Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring yesterday. I knew it had come home, cause I watched the tracking all day
I got home and there was this HUGE box! It was mostly those air pillows things to cushion the SE box, and wow, I had a BIG grin on my face
The packaging is wonderfully painted, the Argonath bookends are glorious, the little magazine is cute, 2 (two!) tickets to TTT, three trading cards, the National Geographic Making of dvd, and oh yeah, the movie. Four discs. Two for the movie and four different commentary tracks, and two appendicies. Wow. I just stared at it for a while, since I couldn’t watch it! Hopefully this weekend we will get a DVD player that lasts. *crosses fingers*
It’s so wonderful to watch. It’s like watching a whole different movie or seeing it for the first time. And more Legolas! Elvish! More Action! Egad, makes me feel like it’s December again. I haven’t even watched the first disc very much. Just the new Council of Elrond. I haven’t seen it with commentary, I haven’t watched any of the special features, but I will. Oh yes, I will. When I get a player!
and y’all should thank May for getting me out of the cellar. I’m glad she thinks I’ve got a prince charming.
Btw, the snake was found and put back in its cage, way back on Monday. We decided to call it Harry because a) it’s got no hair and b) after Harry Houdini because of its little disappearing act
It now has some crickets and goldfish to nibble on and a heat lamp. So the lab has a mascot ![]()
And if you’re VERY spoiler happy, I finished a MAJOR plot point for TMC. I could send it to you if you want, but I’m not going to put it up. It would spoil you too much. I just wanted to let you know that TMC is definitely being written, and I’ve got a good idea to start Ch. 5 with. I just had to get that little plot device out of the way.
Please vote for me! I’m in second place, and I’d really like to move up. Remember, I love you if you vote! ![]()
Year: 2002
Ben Folds and Duncan Sheik
StandardI went to the Ben Folds concert on Sunday night. Alex told me about it, and I am very glad that he did. I really enjoyed both the acts. Duncan Sheik was the opener, he played for about an hour, acoustic guitar with somebody else playing electric as backup. Man, I wish I could play. He played the two songs that I know
I will probably have to get his cds now. I know it won’t be the same as a live show, but hey. Cool music anyway.
Ben Folds was hilarious. Solo piano playing isn’t usually the typical comedy show, but he was so funny while he was playing. And he was good. At one time I was really good at piano, but that like so many other things has fallen by the wayside. I miss it. One day I’m gonna get back into it, and I’m gonna be able to sing while playing too
He even had us sing along with some of his songs. I think I’ll be going on a Ben Folds downloading spree here shortly. I only knew two of his songs, and only one got played, but I’m happy I went. And for the price you couldn’t beat it. At least some things offered through my alma mater aren’t horrendously overpriced.
Check ’em out, you’ll probably like them too.
Lifehouse is coming to the same venue about a month from now. The only problem is that there are a few other acts coming with them that I’m not so keen on. We’ll see. I’ve never seen them in concert, but I really like their songs, sooo…
Did you remember to vote for me today? This week? I love you for it! And doesn’t someone want to get me out of the darn cellar (see previous post)? Anyone can do it. It doesn’t have to be someone in the WQ. While you’re there, vote for me! Thanks ![]()
1. Hershey’s Kisses: with or without almonds? Without. I hate nuts.
2. Wizard of Oz: Scarecrow or Tin Man? Toughie. Probably Scarecrow, cause I always feel like I need a new brain.
3. Meat eater or vegetarian? I am such a carnivore. I need my protein! Shucks. Me and Orli would never get along 🙂
4. Buy books or borrow them? Buy, unless it’s hardback. I abhor buying hardback books. Those I check out of the library.
5. At the bank: ATM or human teller? ATM, being that I rarely get to the bank during normal (er, banking normal) hours.
6. Oil or gas (or other) heat? umm, I think we have natural gas heat.
7. Pen or pencil? Pen for taking notes, pencil for drawing.
8. Drive or use public transit? Carpool! I don’t have a car or I would drive.
9. Who IS James Bond: Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan (or any of the others in between)? Sean Connery. While Pierce is good and he has the looks for it, only Sean has that lovely scottish burr.
10. Your ideal breakfast: full (bacon/sausage, eggs, pancakes, etc) or continental (bagels, muffins, fruit, cereal)? Cereal, milk and OJ. If I’m really lucky I’d get the full breakfast, but who has time to cook?
Aww, man…I know I like green, but…
StandardSomebody stuck me in the Cellar again…
Please rescue me, please?
PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 2.45
1. Although I was told before hand by my mother, my Grandfather finally told me he has cancer and it was speculated he has about 12 months to live. Has someone you know ever told you they had a terminal illness? What was it like for you when you found out. How did that change your relationship with them? Thank God I’ve never known anyone with a terminal illness. I hope to God I never do. I would be so scared.
2. The concept of having 12 months comes as somewhat of a shock. Often those estimates are wrong and a person lives much longer. But still, it makes me think. If you found out you had 12 months to live, what would you do with that time? How would it change the way you live? Or would it? I would finish my damn story! I’d go to China and Paris and learn some Chinese and Spanish. I’d go to a spa and get the whole treatment. I’d figure out how to do meaningful stuff at work. I’d write some songs and learn guitar. I’d pray a lot.
3. My Grandfather has decided to undergo chemotherapy. He was told it would not cure him, but it could prolong his life, however his quality of life could diminish. Having watched my father go through all that to no avail, I am not so sure I would choose that option. If you were (or are) in a situation where chemotherapy might cure you, or might not, would endure the usual side effects and discomfort? I think I would at least try it. I’m an optimist, so I like to believe that a cure is right around the corner. And if you’re not alive to take advantage of that cure, wouldn’t that suck?
4. How is your health? How are you doing? I’m pretty good, I suppose. I could lose some weight, but then again that’s normal. I could always lose weight.
5. Speaking of health, I was in a Health Food Store Saturday and learned about something called “Ear Candling.” It involves having a helper insert a cone-shaped candle in your ear, lighting it and having the reverse pressure suck the wax out of your ear. Apparently it is very popular. Do you use, or have you ever tried, any alternative heath remedies or procedures? How did that work out? Anything out there we should try (or avoid)?
Not really. I’ve taken some so-called natural remedies for colds and such, sometimes they seem to work. I don’t think I’d try this ear candling though. Too weird.
6. Which reminds me, this week at work they are giving flu shots for $15. I hate getting shots, so getting one by choice, and paying for it, is tough for me. How do you feel about Flu shots. Do they give them where you live? Are you going to get one or take your chances? I got one last year, and I didn’t get the flu, so I think they work. But I only got one cause it was at school and I don’t think I had to pay for it. I don’t know where one would be this year, so I probably won’t. You should, though.
7. I’d like to see either “Spirited Away” or “Bowling for Columbine” before they vanish from the multiplex at the mall. But I will probably have to go see it alone (which I hate). Do you like to go to see flicks at the movie theater alone? Or would you rather have company? Seen any good (or bad) movies lately? It is more fun to see movies with friends, but yes, I will go alone. Sometimes you just can’t get people to watch a three-hour movie for the seventh time 🙂
BONUS: Don’t you want somebody to love? God, yes! I’m so tired of being alone, so hurry up and get here, dammit!
SPECIAL BONUS: my grandmother.
movin’ on up (deja vu)
StandardI’ve moved up to the Apprentice’s Challenge, once again
Thanks to all of you, and thanks to my new VE friends
Let’s hope this week turns out a little better than the last time I was there…
There’s a snake loose in the lab. My boss’ cat caught a little garter snake last week and she brought it in, sort of a mascot, lol. The new girl at the lab, Fatima, said it was there this morning, but there is no snake in the terrarium… this could be interesting.
I wrote a lot yesterday for TMC. One of the huge turning points in the book. It’s so far ahead of anything I’ve written so far that none of you would get it, but you’d all probably kill me if you knew what it was. Actually, May is the only person who knows about it. It’s all beautifully tied in to what’s already written, but I can’t share it. Damn, I need to write quicker. *hint coming up* I’ve only gotten one person’s opinion on chapter four of TMC (thanks Jem)…come on, read it! Let me know what you think!
Don’t forget to vote…links are after the post…
Friday Five (.org)
1. Did you vote in your last elections? Yes. For the Democrats. Why oh why did Talent have to win?
2. Do you know who your elected representatives are? May Scheve, Dick Gephardt, Talent (grr) and Odenwald. Bleh. I don’t like republicans.
3. Have you ever contacted an elected representative? If so, what was it about? I don’t think so, unless it was during one of the Affton Days when May Scheve talked to us…or when we visited the capitol building way back when.
4. Have you ever participated in a demonstration? Nope, but I’ve seen them. There were a few on campus. I’ve just never been all that politically motivated.
5. Have you ever volunteered in an election? What was the result? No. I wouldn’t like the letdown if we didn’t win, and as I’ve said, I hate politics.![]()
