the friday five:

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why? Right now it’s John Mayer…because he has great lyrics and guitar riffs, and he’s cute enough to be an idol.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? I really don’t like the Fine Young Cannibals. Remember them? And some may call it blasphemy but I’m not to fond of Nirvana.

3. If your favorite singer wasn’t in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Possibly. It would depend if he was writing something…I don’t know if I would go for him on looks alone. He has a great voice though, so I don’t know what else he would do 😉

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show? I’ve been to more concerts since I got out of high school than the entire 17 years before college. John Mayer is great, DMB is great…Jars of Clay are wonderful to see onstage. Ben Folds is very fun to see live.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music? My take is that it’s just like taping a song off the radio. I like it because if there’s just one song you want, you can listen to it and not have to buy the entire album or pay for five other remixes that you don’t want. Another nice thing about dl’ing is that you can test out a song to see if you want to buy the album. I’d rather have the official cd anyway (it just seems cooler, I guess) but I don’t want to buy it if it’s gonna be a lemon. If you download it you can see if you like the album enough to buy it. If there were more places like Borders where you can preview nearly every cd in the place (places closer to my house, anyway) I probably wouldn’t even consider dl’ing.
