1. Christine posted recently about her very first perfume. I remember my first cologne, it was Polo! Well what else would you expect from a kid who grew up in the 80’s? Eventually I moved on to Chaps and then Guess for Men. Ha! Now I don’t wear any. How’s that for progress? What was the first perfume or cologne you wore? Tell me about the memories that come to mind when you think about it/smell it again. I really don’t remember my first, but I got a lot of those little sample perfumes that had about a ml in them…Liz Claiborne and probably some Revlon stuff…whatever that pink baby powder thing was…(I hate baby powder smell now…weird. Wonder if I’ll like it again when I have a kid). Usually cheap stuff. I didn’t buy any kind of perfume but what you could get in the drugstore because I was not rich enough for the departments 😉 But I did wear my mom’s Red Door or Dilys or No. 1 on special occasions. Those are still good scents. I just bought some perfume at the renaissance festival which I’m very happy with: Voodoo Majick and Carnival 🙂
2.We’ve had a lot of cooler weather here in Oklahoma, it reminds me so much of Fall. Even though it isn’t Autumn, I find myself thinking of fires in the fireplace, taking walks and having a cold nose, and stopping for a flavored coffee on the way in to work. What are some of the best things about Fall? Shuffling through the leaves. Being able to wear a jacket but not freeze/overheat. Warm food becomes appealing again. I want a fireplace…the new apartment technically has one but we can’t light a fire in it. We’ll just put a cool candleabrum there.
3. I saw an episode of Dr. Phil recently where this good ol’ boy was just breaking his wife down left and right by making fun of her weight and the size of her rear end. I am amazed that men like this exist and are able to remain married. Why do some women put up with men who constantly insult them and/or abuse them? I have no idea. There is probably something to that “but I love him” thing…I stayed with my ex a lot longer than I should have because I thought I loved him. I hope if that ever happens again I’ll be able to recognise it and move on.
4. Speaking of that, obviously making fun of a woman’s weight is something that men should know not to ever do. Still, many of us are clueless. What are some things men should never say to women? Did I mention that my interaction with the opposite sex has been limited to classmates in the last few years? If a boy just speaks to me it’s quite an occasion. Although the guy you like should never say, ‘well, I went out with this girl last weekend and I really like her’ to you when you’re still at the ‘friend’ stage but were hoping for the ‘really GOOD friends’ phase…
5. I was cleaning out my closet recently and realized I had way too many shoes. There are some I never even wear anymore, but just keep because I have some memory attached to them, kind of silly really. How many pairs of shoes do you have? Is that too many or not enough? Do you keep shoes you know you will never wear again? I have no idea how many pairs of shoes I actually have stashed under my dresser and my bed. Quite a few are running shoes which aren’t really good for running anymore but they’re still in good condition. Others are old shoes that I just don’t have need to wear. There are a few which are probably too small but I can’t bring myself to part with them because of memories. I’m a pack rat…you should know this by now.
6. Another thing I have too many of is Photo Albums. They are everywhere! All shapes and sizes too. But as many as I have, I enjoy looking at other peoples photo albums more. Especially those found by the couch at my grandparent’s house. Every time we’d get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas, we grandkids would pull them out and spend hours laughing and remembering. Did your family keep a lot of photo albums around? Do you like looking at family photo albums? Ha. Hahahahahaha. We have lots of photo albums because my mother is a photography freak. However, the most recent album completed was I believe after my sixth year of life. So we’ve got quite a few albums up to that point…everything else is still in its little green envelope (labeled, or at least most of them are) in various places around the house. I don’t take nearly as many pictures as my mother does, so the most recent album made all by me goes up to somewhere around my sophomore year of college. However, there are still several envelopes full of pictures scattered around my room. I am a disorganized pack rat.
7. I’ve finally got a Friday night off to go out to a movie. You’re coming with, right? Great! I am leaving it all up to you though, you make the plans, who’s going, where to eat, the movie, whatever else later. I’ll be by a 7 to get you, so what’s the plan? Ha. Me, plan? Although this week is easy…since I went to the renaissance festival last weekend, which was the weekend Underworld opened, I would go see that. I actually might just do that once Jess has a night free.
BONUS: Come on baby, where’s your guts? Me?? Guts? Ha. My self-esteem isn’t that high.
