Reason: Back to the Future: The nostalgic yet progressive appeal of wizards, hobbits, and Jedi knights
This kept me busy for my lunch minutes…
(btw…try right-clicking on that trailer link and saving it…)

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings? 8 am if I’m being good; 8:15 if I need sleep.
2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late? Hell yes, and as long as I can. But that usually only lasts till 11 or so. I miss the days of sleeping till 1…
3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning? Get dressed if it’s a weekday, read if it’s a weekend.
4. How long does it take to get ready for your day? Anywhere from a half-hour to only 15 minutes. Depends on degree of lateness 😉
5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast? Eeg. I don’t go anywhere for breakfast, usually…only time I ‘eat out’ is when we drive by a McDonalds. I get a sausage biscuit. But usually it’s cereal at home.
Oh dear, there went the excitement meter
StandardI’ve seen the teaser trailer for RotK that’s been nosed about…I’ve got it, let me know if you want it, but I’m taking the link down for now.
and eeg! Pirates screencaps!

Did I mention how when he said “The tang is almost the full width of the blade,” I just died? Isn’t that silly? But it means he knows his trade. And then the sword flip and his little bow, and that look on his face when Governor Swann told him to pass his thanks on to his master…ahhh. I would see that movie again in a heartbeat.
You all know that I’m not a Bush fan, right?

Arizona Maxi Golf
StandardYes, we did indeed have a family night out. There’s this place which used to be just the Concord Lanes (we used to bowl there, and they had a roller-skating rink) but now it’s still got the bowling, but it’s got a Maxi-golf (not mini-golf, mind you) course, with a nice setup…it’s a cross between Native American and Mexico. I lost to both my parents. Ahem. I have stated repeatedly how much I hate regular golf, and while I don’t loathe miniature golf, I am obviously not very good at it
but there were some spectacular hole in ones, and some spectacular gimmies. Ah well. good clean fun. They’ve also got a climbing wall, so someday if I’m feeling athletic I might hop on over there. It could never be the same as when I tried it with Justin…the real thing is so much better. But at least it’s something.
I need more sleep, so it’s off to bed. Bon nuit!
Stage Shifter
StandardI’m not really sure what that means, but that’s what’s on the green John Mayer shirt I bought at the concert last night
Oh, happy Jen. Good weather, great songs, funny JM faces…
Went with my aunt Carol, this is probably the first time I planned to do something solely with my aunt. Good times
We like quite a bit of the same stuff. It was either this concert or the DMB concert…I decided I liked JM better, and I’m quite sure that was the right decision to make.
Traffic was horrible, as usual. Whoever decided to put a major concert venue out in the middle of nowhere and make it hard to get to must be shot, or at least throttled. Maybe leave the shooting for whoever designed the parking lot. Impossible to get into and out of. We were slightly late…missed most of the opening act, Graham Coulton, which, from what we heard of it, sounded pretty good. You can check out some of his songs on the website, which I believe is just grahamcoulton.com but it’s linked from johnmayer.com anyway.
Counting Crows came on first, they played for about an hour. I liked what they sang…Adam Duritz came out and said he was real sick, and that he was “hallucinating, and you all look like little rabbits.” Er. We were afraid he was going to fall off the stage! He really looked drunk… sounded alright though
Might eventually have to go back and get that first album. Maybe. Really cool backdrops. Flowers, paintings, stars…beautiful carpet of starfield that made me want to make a layout ![]()
By the time they were done it was 10ish…had to wait around quite a bit for John to come on, but when he did, you knew who people were there for
it turned into quite an estrogen fest. Of course there were these two tall frat guys sitting (standing most of the time) in front of us, but luckily they didn’t groove too much, so we could crane around them
There were these two (getting quickly drunk) girls behind us who sang loudly for each of his songs…unfortunate. Of course, if I could have sung I probably would have. But I like to think that I would have at least been on key…
Started off with Why Georgia. Good stuff. Lots of songs from his first album, not quite as many songs as last years concert, which makes sense as he was only on for about half the time. Three (four?) new songs from the upcoming album Heavier Things, including the first single, Bigger Than My Body, and I liked all of them. The new stuff should be great. He played 3×5, my most favorite song ever, in the version that’s on his live cd…great wonderful, amazing guitar work. He definitely inspired me to play. Someday my fingers will dance over the strings like that…
JM grimaces, pouts, looks sick and/or crazy while played some of his solos, but that’s part of his charm. I think sometimes he looks great and pop-idol-y, but most of the time I’m just like damn that boy can sing/play. I wish.
Too bad it was just an hour and a little bit, even though he did play two songs for encore…a new song, just him and his guitar, and Neon, with the whole band. The only song missing was Love Song for No One…maybe he’s found his “no one” ![]()
We spent a good hour getting out of the parking lot. I would never ever not in a million years and only if someone paid me millions work at Riverport as a traffic controller. Sheesh. And whoever thought of putting hotels and businesses along the plaza road to the venue wasn’t thinking clearly. And only two lanes? sigh. Anyway. by the time I got home it was after 1 am. Not good for me who’s still sick and needs sleep…but after this I’ve got nothing planned for at least a month… unless you count the possible midnight party for the TTT release on the 26th. We’ll see. Sleep is good. And since it’s after five I theoretically could leave…and sleep!
Ironic
StandardHad a meeting with Dr. Nolta and Ivana today, cause Luigi wants to work with stem cells. Isn’t it a small world? So maybe I’ll get to work with stem cells after all ![]()
This site is quite amazing.
John Mayer concert tonight! Probably going to leave early because after the meeting I had nothing else planned…yay for traffic jams as I’m sure we’re going to encounter…
Pirates has a really cool soundtrack.

This is an amusing article that actually sort of paints Macs in a good light…
Monday Mission 3.30
1. Have you ever had, or known someone who has had, a “Mid-Life Crisis?” What happened? Is there such a thing or is it just an excuse? Hmm. I’ve maybe been having a quarter-life crisis, as John Mayer so aptly named it…figuring out what to do with my life, don’t you know. But I haven’t really known anyone to totally change their life cause they became “middle-aged”…although I did know one guy who went out and bought a Miata. He sold it later 😉
2. Have you ever had a dream so vivid, that you woke up with certain emotions towards a person for what happened in your dream, even though they didn’t do a thing to deserve it in real life? What did you feel and and what was the dream? Well. I’ve had vivid dreams but I don’t think I’ve ever had a dream about a person where I woke up not liking them…
3. I think everyone is creative in some way or other. Some people draw, some play music, some write, some cook, some build or sew. How do you express your creativity? Have you ever made money from it? I’ve sold some of my necklaces if that’s what you mean 😉 but seriously. Anyone who knows me knows I’m highly creative. I draw, I write, I design websites…if anyone wants to pay me for making a website for them I’d be more than willing 😉
4. Speaking of creativity, I display some of my artwork on my website. It is there for everyone to view, but if I learned it was stolen and used commercially without my permission or being paid, I would be furious. Has anything you created ever been stolen? How did you handle it? As far as I know no one has stolen any of my online work. It would bother me, and I hope it doesn’t happen, but if they had a good reason (and didn’t display it as theirs) I might be nice about it.
5. I imagine the question above is similar to what the music industry is going through with file sharing. Do you think downloading music via file sharing is “stealing?” Is taking songs without paying for them any different than someone taking your work without your permission?
6. How do you feel about the RIAA targeting everyone (parents, teenagers, grandparents) who share songs over the Internet with expensive lawsuits? Should they be selective in who they subpoena, or should all who violate copyrights be treated equally? Or are they going too far? Should the music be free? Personally I think it sucks that they’re doing that. I think it’s just like taping songs off the radio…I mean, it’s for your own personal use. I have to say there are very few full cds I’ve made of songs I got off a file-trading server when I don’t have (or am not planning on getting) the cd. I like the real thing anyway, but I don’t want to have to pay $15 for a cd when I just want one song. I like the Apple iMusic idea, and if I had OS X I’d probably use it. 99 cents a song isn’t bad. No restrictions on how you use it, either.
7. On the same thought, what do you think pay-per-song concepts such as iMusic and BuyMusic.com? Will they succeed? Is this the solution? If not, what is? Hmm. See above. They could just make cd’s lower-priced…I mean, doesn’t it only cost a dollar to make a cd? So why do we have to pay twenty times that?
BONUS: Why can’t we be ourselves like we were yesterday?
Sometimes you have to leave it all behind and forget today and live yesterday.
