The Friday Five
1. Do you wear any jewelry? What kind? Usually only necklaces. Chokers and this sort of cross between ancient chinese and native american. Yeah. Occasionally earrings, small ones, small hoops, maybe. Even more rare is the wearing of rings…although Iove to wear things that make my hands look better. I’d wear bracelets if I had them.
2. How often do you wear it? oops. see above. I should wear jewelry more often, but I’m as like to not when I’m in a rush. Which is often.
3. Do you have any piercings? If so, where? Just pierced ears. But I’ve entertained the thought of getting my belly button pierced…but then I thought better of it. I might go for one of those magnetic piercings, though. lol.
4. Do you have any tattoos? If so, where? None, although that elvish nine is looking better all the time…or maybe a sun around my belly button. Kidding. I think.
5. What are your plans for the weekend? I wish I had some. Possibly see Catch Me if You Can, or Chicago. I’ll probably just read and look for a new job. Isn’t my life exciting?
happy eleventy-first birthday, mr tolkien
Standard“a very curious number and a very respectable age for a Hobbit.”
Thank you for bringing so much joy, fantasy, and mystery into the world.
Can you imagine what life would be like without him? There would be no Legolas! Gasp! Kidding.
Raise a glass at 9 pm tonight.
Oops
StandardA belated happy birthday to Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr. (Dec 7 and Dec 30, respectively) Can’t believe I forgot Jason’s, as is on same day as cousin Nick’s. The (not-at-all) little buddy is 17 now! Gaah, I feel old.
Happy is me for internet is back up at work. Maybe temporarily, but it’s up. Whahoo.
Elvish Dialog List So you too can speak like Legolas!
Sorry , they’re so late, folks… the Monday Mission was supposed to be the last one of 2002, and instead it will be my first of 2003…and I’m just late on the This or That. I haven’t been able to get online at work where I usually type these up. Maybe our internet will be back tomorrow! *crosses fingers*
PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 2.52
1. Which Blog post of yours was one of your favorites of 2002? Hmm. Possibly the ‘Holy Shit!’ entry at the other blog…when I found out I got into UPenn…or the ‘I HAVE SEEN IT!’ (also in the other blog) after seeing the midnight premiere of TTT 🙂 I don’t know, haven’t been reading my archives.
2. Were there any “old acquaintances” that should be forgot this year? DT.
3. Did you finish what you started last week? Some of it.
4. Will you be doing anything to celebrate “New Year’s Eve?” Any traditional food or drinks you associate with “New Year’s?” We celebrated at home. Some family and friends came over. We toast with Asti every year (or sparkling grape juice for those underage…)
5. What was the coolest present you got this year? Probably the Graphire drawing tablet. Now I can draw directly on the comp 🙂
6. The day after Christmas, around 3pm, I drove by a car where the driver and his passenger were each drinking a beer; there was no mistake about it. I was shocked, because I’d never seen anyone actually do this. And wasn’t sure what I should do about it. What would you do in the same situation? I’ve never seen that either. I’d be scared and drive away as quickly as I can. I don’t think I’d report it, esp. since I don’t have a cell phone, but I’d get away as soon as I could.
7. Have you ever driven a car while drinking alcohol? Ever driven drunk or known anyone who has? How’d that turn out? No. And no.
Bonus: Why’d you have to go and make things so complicated? Cause that’s the way life is.
and the This or That
1. Stay in or go out on New Year’s Eve? Stay in. Too expensive to go out, and besides, I’d rather be drunk at home (not that I’d be drunk anyway, but you get the idea)
2. If you stay home, do you stay up to ring in the new year, or fall asleep earlier? Stay up, of course! Then sleep till noon, or later (like today 😉 )
3. If you go out, do you prefer to attend a party at someone’s home, or go to a bar/nightclub/restaurant? Party at someone’s home.
4. Make resolutions, or do you not bother? I don’t usually think about it. I don’t believe I’ve ever kept a resolution, and I rarely made one anyway…
5. Ever been to Times Square (New York City) on New Year’s Eve, or just watched the ball drop on TV? Just watched the ball drop. a) too far away and b) too crowded!
6. Toast the New Year with champagne or a soft drink? I’m legal, but we never had champagne. Asti all the way! And we almost always toasted with something alcoholic, even when us kids were little. It’s not like a sip from the glass will make you drunk! All in fun 🙂
7. Do you have a special New Year’s dinner or not? Not really. Just cool finger food.
8. Do you already have your 2003 calendar, or do you wait to buy one until the stores mark them down? I got a TTT calendar for christmas. Usually I get one as a gift, or just wait till they’re cheaper.
9. Take down Christmas decorations: before or after New Year’s? After.
10. Funny hats and noisemakers, or a quieter celebration? Noisy! It’s more fun that way 🙂
Rings Thing
Standard“Did you avoid spoilers for TTT? If so, why? If not, why?”
I didn’t avoid much for TTT. I wanted to know what they were going to put in it. I watched every clip that I could, and at points I was worried that I was seeing too much, that I’d already seen what the movie would be like, but when I finally saw it I realized I hadn’t seen much of it at all. And being that I had just finished the book…lol. the biggest spoiler of all. I knew what was supposed to happen. I just didn’t know how it was going to be depicted on screen. And that was perfect.
btw, I’ve now seen the movie 4 times. Thank you Molly
It’s still damn good. I might have to wait a while to see it again, especially now that I’ve seen it four times in two weeks…I’ve got a popcorn bag and should be thoroughly sick of movie theater popcorn for some time now.
Irony: last night while walking to Molly’s car I dropped the TTT soundtrack cd on the road and stepped on it. Rats. It’s got a big scratch on it, and I’m listening to it right now to see if I killed it…of course it fell jelly side down. It’s in rather good shape considering how it slid a bit and I mushed it into the ground. Ah well. If I need to I’ll just get the regular version, lol…
Thank you to everyone who sent me a Christmas or New Years card. I’ve just been too lazy to fire up the other comp and make something for you guys, and we haven’t had internet at work for the last few weeks. Maybe tomorrow. I miss all my ‘day IM’ friends…why don’t you get on right now? lol. Hope I talk to you soon!
Hey hon! I come bearing a gift. 😀

New Years Un-Resolutions
Standard(disclaimer: I think you should make resolutions, but I thought this was worth making you laugh…and besides, I never keep mine anyway)
Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year that you never keep? Why not promise to do something you can actually accomplish? Here are some resolutions that you can use as a starting point:
1. Gain weight. At least 30 pounds.
2. Stop exercising. Waste of time.
3. Read less. Makes you think.
4. Watch more TV. I’ve been missing some good stuff.
5. Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow.
6. Not date any of the Baywatch cast.
7. Spend more time at work, surfing with the T1.
8. Take a vacation to someplace important: like, to
see the largest ball of twine.
9. Not jump off a cliff just because everyone else did.
10. Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more.
11. Not have eight children at once.
12. Get in a whole NEW rut!
13. Start being superstitious.
14. Personal goal: bring back disco.
15. Not wrestle with Jesse Ventura.
16. Not bet against the Minnesota Vikings.
17. Buy an ’83 Eldorado and invest in a really loud stereo system.
18. Get the windows tinted. Buy some fur for the dash.
19. Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabicwords.
20. Only wear jeans that are 2 sizes too small and use a chain or
rope for a belt.
Happy Birthday dear cousin Nick, and if I don’t talk to my faithful readers out there (yeah right) have a happy New Year!
btw, I wrote some more of moonstone today. And I have to try to see TTT again before the New Year as I didn’t realize my two free tickets from the SE FotR dvd expire tomorrow. argh. Anyway. Enjoy yourself! Don’t drink and drive, and be happy ![]()
