PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 2.33

1. Many children have blankets, or a favorite nubby stuffed animal that

they like to keep near them for security. Do you recall what you had for your

“security blanket” as a child? When did you finally give it up? What brought

that about?
I think I had a blankie. Now all I have is a teddy bear and it’s pillow (both ex-related. How pathetic is that? sigh.)

2. Now that you are a big kid, what do you have to give you that same

sense of security?
Now all I have is a teddy bear and its pillow (both ex-related. How pathetic is that? sigh.) Although I don’t suppose those give me security. Just something to cuddle. I think my ability to run away makes me feel secure.

3. With a little over four months left in 2002, have you accomplished

everything you wanted to for the year? Is there anything that you would like to

accomplish before the year is over?
Erm. My birthday hasn’t happened yet (next Tuesday, though 🙂 ) so I feel like it isn’t that close to the end of the year. Augh. Well, I’d like to finish some books, start this new job, start paying off student loans (ugh) and hopefully get a good part of my Lego costume done. Maybe go to a RenFest (fingers crossed). Learn to be responsible.

4. I don’t know about you, but it seems to me children have it pretty

good these days. Game systems, computers in the home, microwaves, cable TV, the

internet, cell phones and pagers, they certainly have a wider variety of

technology than most of us did as children. What modern convenience, if any,

do you think it would be good for children today to do without? What would they

gain?
Without? Calculators. Man, I was so screwed cause we did algebra with calculators! But they should have computers… just perhaps not until they’re ten. Those “baby computers” make me sad. hmm. And maybe Barney is a bad idea. I don’t think I’d be able to let my kids watch that. Or Pokemon.

5. Many of us have one thing in which we believe we excel. What do you do

better than most?
I think I’m damn good at running 🙂 After all I was the MOP of indoor conference and I won three golds at outdoor …

6. In the United States, and possibly other countries, teenagers in

High School usually wind up falling into several social circles or “cliques.”

Stoners, Rich Kids, Jocks, Cheerleaders, Band, Drama, Goths, and so on (though

the names are probably different today). What High School “clique” did you

find yourself in? Was it by choice or did it just happen? Did you look down on

other groups?
(Aw it’s ok, it was/is High School, we all did dumb stuff) Well, I wasn’t really in one single clique unless you count outsider as a clique. I was part of the jocks cause I ran, part of the nerds cause I was third in my class, part of the theater geeks cause I was in theater and occasionally part of the popular kids just by dint of the fact that I grew up with them. I wasn’t very happy with the acceptance or lack thereof of any of those groups. Sigh. Some of high school was great, but a large part of it pretty much just sucked.

7. (it begins) I have great news! I won the contest and we now have plane

tickets to anywhere in the world. The bad news is we have to pick a place now

and leave in the morning. I can’t decide where to go, so you get to pick. Where

should we go, and what is the first thing we should do when we get there?
You should go to China and see the Great Wall. I’m told it’s a spiritual experience. Or perhaps you should take a trip down whichever river they’re damming so you can see the scenery before it’s damaged by the locks. one day, grasshopper… but I think it’ll be too late for the scenery.

BONUS: Must I beg you?

perhaps…

So, once I pay for it, I’ll have a bow, a quiver, and some arrows… I won my first auction, lol. Hopefully worth it. And the pattern is laid out for the cloak, I just have to cut it and sew it… lol, easier said than done!

(this) day of mine

Standard

(just give me one)
day of mine
don’t wanna go through it this time
pulled two different ways
like ordinary days
just want one day of mine
no waiting in line
a day to be free
can I be me?
Someday I might make a song out of that. Admittedly and shamelessly based off Vanessa Carlton’s Ordinary Day.

I really feel like I need more time in the day. I so want to write more of my novel and my friend gave me some good ideas for how to tie some things up in my Roswell story so I want to get into that too. And if ever there is time, hah! I’d try to write that elf-transformation story. Gaah. And I want to get to the fabric stores so I can see if anyone has dupioni silk in a silver-blue color so we don’t have to special order it. It would be nice if I could just get some fabric and start sewing! I want to start on it while I still have that “ideal”, when I know exactly what I want to do even if I’m not quite sure how I’m gonna get there, and while I’m still interested. Not that I think I’ll be un-interested soon, given that my friends going to Comicon would probably be mad at me if I didn’t finish the costume, but I know how easy it is for my interests to get buried under loads of real-life crap.
Did I ever tell you how much I love to sing? I thought it was wonderful how last weekend during the bike ride we were able to sing and yell as loud as we wanted, cause all that was around was corn. Or soybeans. There’s one of my dreams for you, to get up on a good, acoustically perfect stage and sing my heart out with an orchestral accompaniment. Not necessarily in front of an audience, mind you. Just the stage. Here at work I bring my headphones so doing mini-preps aren’t quite so boring, but I just have to hum, or something. It’s hard not to sing quietly. God I miss theater.
I am no hero, oh, that’s for sure… DMB rocks.
yeah, so, the title. glimmers of a Roswell story idea from my friend Deidre and that U2 song was playing. I read the best Rosfic last night (aside from my own, of course. Hey, no one ever said I was too modest.) It’s called All You Wanted and it’s by Kath7, not that that will help you or anything. Ask me and I’ll send it to you.

1. Dr. Seuss characters: the Cat in the Hat or the Grinch?

The Cat in the Hat. The Grinch always scared me. Although I loved the cartoon.

2. “Anne of Green Gables” or “Little Women”?

Anne of Green Gables, I think. Of course, I’m not sure if I ever actually made it through that one, and I don’t recall ever reading Little Women. Although I saw the movie. lol.

3. Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys?

Nancy Drew, of course.

4. Winnie the Pooh characters: Tigger or Eeyore?

Tigger. I always felt sorry for Eeyore.

Judy Blume. I think. It’s been a long time.

Charlie, of course. Again, I don’t know if I ever read James.

7. “Harry Potter” or “The Wizard of Oz”?

I hate to say it, but Harry Potter. I couldn’t finish Oz. Egad, I sound like I didn’t read anything, which anyone who knows me knows isn’t true.

8. Curious George or Madeline?

Madeline! C;mon, she’s french.

9. “A Wrinkle in Time” or “Little House on the Prairie”?

A Wrinkle in Time. Madeline L’Engel rocks.

10. Dr. Seuss again: “Horton Hears a Who” or “The Lorax”?

Erm. Didn’t read those either.

Must remember to find Dishwalla’s Somewhere in the Middle. It’s a very good song. Along with Nine Days’ Good Friend. Anyone who wants to email them to me is welcome.
