Well, it’s official, I’ve had *my* first car accident, on my way to work. Not my fault. It’s rainy and slippery today and I was stopped at a stoplight in the right-hand left turn lane, with cars to the left and a median to the right, and a Jeep Liberty sliding toward me in the rear-view mirror. Eeek! I had enough time to think that car isn’t stoppi–oh shit!
Irony no. 1: This is my second week being a full-time driver with my own car insurance (nothing should happen to it as it’s not my fault).
Irony no. 2: The accident occurred in front of an old auto repair shop with a sign reading “Collision repair center” directly across the street from where it happened.
Sigh. And here we were hoping that the Saturn wouldn’t need any repairs while we got the new car paid off. The trunk is bashed in on the left side and won’t open, but miraculously the taillight casings are intact. The left one is loose, but intact. The left passenger door could be a little sticky, but the car is driveable if you don’t mind the rather gaping hole where rain could get in…Thank goodness it wasn’t my fault (and I didn’t hit the car in front of me) and thank goodness for seatbelts and thank God I’m ok. Nothing broken except the car; I can’t tell if I’m going to be sore because of nerves or because of the accident. So worry not, I’m ok, just a little shaky. But I’ll take your gifts or monetary donations or Amazon wishlist fulfillments joyfully ![]()

Eeegghh, it’s official
StandardI sent off my registration for Comic-Con today, and I bought my plane ticket, and I paid for my share of the hotel room. There goes most of my next paycheck…No turning back now!
I sewed the body of the silver frock last night. It looks almost like it could be the real thing, lol. I need to find pictures of the embroidery on the jerkin front and frock sleeves so I can attempt that. It’s going to be painted on the jerkin cause it’s not real leather…and I’ve got to find fabric for the trews, aka pants. and make the arrows. and finish the pin back. and find blue contacts. shape the ear points. lose weight. lol.
Maybe it will all get done…let me know you’re rooting for me ![]()
yo, go back to the beginning and see what I wrote then and comment. Come on, you know you wanna.
PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 3.23
1. In my work Outlook inbox, I have 343 unread email messages. Most of them are newsletters I’ve subscribed to but not had time to read. It is a bit intimidating at this point, and I am tempted to delete them all and start fresh. But I am that way in many things, relationships, art projects, and more. Have you even just totally trashed something you were working on because it wasn’t going the way you wanted? What happened? Did you start over again? Was it
better? Usually this happens if I’m doing something creative and it doesn’t turn out just right. Like a website layout or the Elven brooch. I started over a couple of times for that. But I always have to check my messages…even if I just select a bunch of them and mark them as read 😉
2. My friend was contacted out of the blue by someone from High School at his work e-mail. He wondered how someone found him and I told him to try putting his own name in Google.com to see what happens. Have you ever contacted an old friend out of the blue over the internet? How did it go? Have any old friends or lovers ever contacted you? Did it flatter you or freak you out? I have looked for other people on Google or school directory websites…sometimes it works out, but usually I forget to contact them again so we forget about each other (oops) One guy from hs found me, and we’ve been talking to each other sporadically…that’s fun. I’d like to be found. Means that I made an impression on somebody.
3. I am the forgetful type. I need lists. I need notes. Oddly, I’ve found if I write something down to remember it, the mere act of writing makes me remember it and I seldom ever refer back to the paper again. What is the most important thing that you have ever forgotten? Did it have any negative results? How did it all turn outn I’ve got to write it down. Sometimes I remember it or not, but I try to hold on to the paper anyway. I’ve forgotten to send some things off on time, forgotten homework assignments, forgotten to put a certain reagent in the mix for an experiment…that’s bad. But nothing to get fired over…yet. (I pray thee dear God that that doesn’t happen…)
4. In America, we are currently suffering through an overdose of “reality” programs on television. Survivor, Fear Factor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, The Bachelor and so on. Which of the “reality” television programs do you think you would have a chance at winning? Why? Would you ever actually consider signing up for one? Have you? I don’t think I could win anything. The only one I might have a chance at is Survivor because I’m athletic. But I’m not ruthless enough for that, and I don’t think of myself as pretty enough to win any of the dating ones. I don’t really watch them anyway, so it’s sort of a moot point 🙂
5. Do you allow commenting on your blog? Why? Have you ever considered removing/adding that function? What was one of the worst situations you’ve found yourself in due to blog comments? I adore comments. I love them. Please comment more. I don’t think there’s ever been a bad moment with comments except that they won’t work on occasion…never had a flamer (thank goodness)…there was one time when a guy with the same name as a character in one of my stories commented…that was odd, and I never found out if he actually was named that or just playing. Comment, dammit!
6. Have you found any cool shareware/freeware applications/scripts/tools recently? Yeah? Tell me more! Wouldn’t that be nice. I’ve had enough trouble just getting the computer to start up.
7. I’ve mentioned it here before, but one of my favorite terms I’ve heard a Minster use was when he refereed to a “pet sin.” Which is when you live your life right for the most part, but you have this one secret thing, this one bad thing that you do that is wrong for you to do, that you won’t give up, even though you know you should (and sometime criticize others for doing). Now I am not asking to know what it is, but do you have a “pet sin?” When did it start? Are you trying to give it up, or are you just reconciled to the fact that you will always have it? Would anyone think less of you if they knew about it? Hmmm. Probably obsessive reading. And reading of fantasy books, at that. I’ll always do it because reading is so natural to me. I feel lonely and bored if I don’t have a book. I don’t think anyone else minds unless I’m reading at work 😉
BONUS: Am I loud enough?
the friday five
1. How many times have you truly been in love? 2.5.
2. What was/is so great about the person you love(d) the most? we adored the same things, got crazy with the fantasy, and loved really hard for a too-short period of time. sigh.
3. What qualities should a significant other have? great eyes, sense of humor, ready smile, strong arms, tall enough that I can put my head in the hollow of their shoulder. Hair to run my fingers through. Share my interests. Like what I write 😉
4. Have you ever broken someone’s heart? yes. unfortunately.
5. If there was one thing you could teach people about love, what would it be? “…what the world needs now, is love, sweet love…” try to look past the exterior to see the interior. You really can’t judge a book by its cover.

Random musings
StandardI haven’t had time to write anything in a while. I’ve been pretty busy at work (gasp! finally! lol.) and the computer’s still down at home so doing anything computer wise is tough. And I just can’t seem to get myself to turn on the laptop…which has the lovely thing called Photoshop on it…I miss my photoshop! This computer which is always on just has Paint. Aggh. Paint! It’s so not what I’m used to…
anyway. I need to make sure I focus on my work so I’m not getting distracted when I go to do the procedures. I nearly messed up some reagents today…hopefully the results aren’t too screwed up. Luckily we’re doing another one of these next week. But tomorrow I’m on my own because Luigi is out of town for a conference or somewhat, so I’ll be here with no supervision! Ha. And we all know how that goes…kidding.
I’m getting very excited for ComicCon. I need to buy my plane ticket and start sewing! Maybe tonight. I finished the pin last night…not quite Noble Collection quality, but at least it’s something, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper than you can get it anywhere else
I sent in my Masquerade registration today, so I’m sort of committed and have to finish the costume! Eeek! lol. Not that y’all care. You just want to see the pictures of me making a fool of myself, I can tell. It’s probably going to be a comedy skit between me and a warrior Eowyn…too bad I didn’t fall in love with Eowyn’s white dress first…
so now I’ve got a parking permit for work, I drove today. I parked in the lot that’s “never full” (because it’s so far away from everything else). I’m almost avoiding leaving cause it’s so far away. Blah. I told you I’m lazy, right? Yeah. But I feel all official, almost. I just need a key to my lab. lol. I had to pay the first installment of the newly-raised car insurance (three cars, three drivers. Oh joy). I feel like I’m putting out a lot of money, but hey, that’s what jobs are for, right? right.
Paul Walker was on Jay Leno last night. I really like his eyes. I’d almost see 2Fast2Furious (silly, silly title) just for those eyes. Mmmm. I gotta find me a guy with cool eyes. (and buy myself some blue contacts for assuming the role of Legolas…yes, I know, I’m crazy. I have to get an eye exam first, though, to get the prescription, so I’m waiting till I get my insurance card…ahhh, the joys of being a responsible adult.)
1. Cats or dogs? Cats.
2. Butterflies or birds? Butterflies. No offense to my current pet parakeet, Sapphire.
3. Horses or cows? Horses. I miss horseback riding.
4. Turtles or snakes? Turtles.
5. Frogs or grasshoppers? Frogs.
6. Lions or tigers? Mountain lions (cougars 🙂 )
7. Elephants or mice? Elephants.
8. Porcupines or aardvarks? Porcupines.
9. Unicorns or dragons? Toughie 🙂 Probably dragons.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You live in a rather dumpy apartment. A friend offers you a chance to be a roommate at a new place s/he is moving into, but they don’t allow pets. You have a pet. Do you find your pet a new home and take the new place, or do you keep your pet and stay put? Depends on if my parents could take the pet. Although it’s highly unlikely that I would have a pet anyway. And I might just try to ignore that rule and bring the pet anyway. Who knows. I don’t have a pet that moves with me…so I don’t know what I’d do. heh. Waffle much?
