This or That on a subject very very near and dear to my heart: reading!
1. Newspapers or magazines? Magazines, although I won’t pass up a newspaper if it’s there.
2. Books-on-tape or regular books? Regular books. There’s nothing like holding a book in your hands.
3. Paperback or hardcover? I loooooove hardcover books. I HATE to pay for them. So I usually try to restrain myself and buy the paperback when it comes out…and hope the library has the hardcover to keep me satisfied!
4. Fiction or non-fiction? Fiction. Unless it’s true crime or somewhat scientific.
5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy or romance novels? Fantasy with a little bit of romance mixed in.
6. Borrow from library or buy books (either new or used)? I like to have books be *mine* but I know I can’t spend *that* much money on books. I check out from the library as much as I can, unless it’s new fantasy, in which case I might just be screwed.
7. Subscribe to magazines or buy on newsstand? Subscribe.
8. Current best-sellers or classic literature? Usually best-sellers.
9. Read books once, or re-read favorites every so often? Re-read favorites many many times, sometimes back to back…depends on how good the book was.
10. Here in the U.S., we have two hot best-sellers…former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s memoirs, and the new Harry Potter book (coming out June 21). If you had to read one, which one…Hillary or Harry? Why? Harry Potter, definitely. I want to know what happens! Alas, I’m going to have to wait until someone buys me the hardcover or 400+ people read it quickly from the library hold list…I’m not going to spend $25 or whatever it costs on the hardcover when I can buy the paperback for $8…but I hope people read quickly!

HEALER
(Submissive Extrovert Concrete Feeler )
Like just 9% of the population you are a HEALER (SECF)– caring, good with people, and patient. You are completely selfless and full of love. As a concrete feeler, you do well with your emotions, which are very strong. You understand and appreciate *why* you feel the way you do, and for the most part you’re at peace with yourself.
Suffering in the world really pisses you off.
In relationships, it’s easy for you to get hurt. Avoid all kinds of dominant (D***) people, *especially* in dating or marriage. You are a motherly figure, even if you’re a guy. If you’re a girl, make sure you’re a mom some day. The world’s children need people like you. If you’re a guy, don’t even think about it. Most pedophiles are HEALERS.
On the rare occasions when you try to assert yourself, you’re cute and awkward, but highly effective.
And according to selfsame site, I am 80% dateable. So where are the dates?
1. (Promoguy speaking) The most hateful comments I’ve ever had are from the post I made taking a stand against Cock Fighting. How do you respond to hateful mail and comments? I have to say I don’t think I’ve gotten any terribly hateful comments. No one really reads my blog anyway, so it’s a little hard to know what people are thinking…I’d probably respond to it in a nice way in a following post.
2. I often think twice about taking a stand on things, because I get this nagging fear I will loose some of my readers or become a target of those who disagree. But I usually ignore it and post on it anyway. What sort of topics have you taken a stand on in your writings? Did it get the reaction you expected? What subjects have you avoided? Why? The things I post that I expect to have comments on almost never have very many. It always surprises me. But I think this ties into the fact that not too many people come by, so it’s hard for them to comment on it, eh?
3. I read a post over at SnarkyB****.com where the author describes “The Top 10 Reasons I Won’t Read Your Blog.” While I try not to commit these sins, there are things I do that cause folks to drop me from their Blogrolls. What would you add to the list of “Reasons You Won’t Read a Blog?” What are some of the reasons that you stopped reading someone’s Blog? Do you tell them you’ve stopped reading? Wouldn’t you like to know why someone quit reading yours? Or do you care? I don’t really read all that many blogs, truth to tell. There are some that I try to visit pretty regularly, but I fail at that rather often. I know, I shouldn’t complain about not getting hits when I don’t go out and visit other blogs. But anyway, there are some certain general things I don’t like about websites, like bad spelling (spellcheck works…so does the delete key), typing like DiS caUse U don’ kno how 2 type…come on. it’s not instant messenger! clashing colors, and consistently inflammatory posts.
4. Do you like to tweak and tinker with your website and blog? Or would you rather have a simple solution so you can concentrate on other things? I love to work on them, it’s just finding the time to do it.
5. Would you take a ride into outer space if given the chance? Sure, if I didn’t have to pay anything to do it…
6. Are there any songs, that when you hear them, make you just want to get up and start dancing? Usually, yeah. I can’t name any right off the top of my head. Course, I’m more likely to belt out the lyrics than to start dancing.
7. Speaking of music, I read a humor article recently where the author said he can’t stand it when people give him “Mix CDs.” (In case you don’t know, Mix CDs are audio CD compilations that folks make of music on their PCs and give to you for your listening pleasure) He said it reminded him too much of teenagers who made love song “mix tapes” in High School. Have you ever made a “Mix” CD or tape for someone special? What was on it? Did they like it? Are you sure? Has someone made a”mix” just for you? Did you like it? Which one comes to mind? What made it so memorable? What songs were on it? I read that article 🙂 I actually like mix cd’s. I make them occasionally for myself. I don’t know how appropriate of a gift they are, as if you’re going to give it to someone, you ought to just buy a cd. But if you have sentimental reasons, then go for it. I don’t think I ever made a mix tape for anyone, and definitely not a mix cd. I’ve copied some cds for friends, but that’s it…
BONUS: Where does my hope come from? The eternal well of the soul…

how do they get these so wrong?
There’s a new fantasy movie called Ancanar supposedly coming out sometime this year…it’s an independent movie but it features a search for the elves…sounds interesting…and it’s got some great trailer music! Check it out. I’ve never heard of it before, but it could be interesting…

Finally got the iMac up and running with internet, as some of you found out last night. Hopefully all will be well now and it will be a little less finicky than it was when it was at school…who knows.
I love it when I’m happy with my purchases. I went to Borders last night with my mom (got to drive the van home, whoopee) cause I had a coupon…of course I ended up spending too much, as usual, but I bought three cds and the two Merry Gentry books in paperback. Switchfoot’s Beautiful Letdown, Ricky Martin’s new spanish album (great sounding but I have no idea what he’s saying
) and Evanescence’s Fallen. All quite cool.
I start working with Paige today because Luigi’s gone back to Italy for a month to take care of his joint appointment over there. Hopefully everything will work out, cause if it doesn’t, he will be leaving WU in Sept, I think. Sigh. But I’m sure there will be work to do. *crosses fingers*
I really need to make a new layout for this place. I swear, I will soon.
Aunt Carol and Corey are coming this weekend…hopefully it won’t rain on us! I swear, we’ve had plenty of rain recently. I guess this means we’ll have a good summer, full of green grass and such, but uggggh. We’re drenched right now. I miss the sun.
*hums* here comes the sun, da da da dum, here comes the sun, I say…
The Friday Five
1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have? Go to Cedar Point Amusement park.
2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest? I try to be. Or at least nice about being brutally honest.
3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn’t? What happened? Hmm. Probably but I can’t think of it right now.
4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why? Middle-Earth, of course. There are Elves there. Although if you’re counting any fictional world I’d choose Allehara, the world of The Moonstone Chronicles, where I’m the heroine x2…
5. What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted? Guitar playing. Or the ability to transform. Ha. I have my head in the clouds sometimes…
Friday the 13th, eh…watch out for those black cats, and any strange men walking around with white tunics with huge red crosses on them…
Post to the Flooble! The venerable Quimby, Earl of Flooble, is lonely without you…(thank you Punz) the link is at the top of the posts!
So if you read the previous entry you know I was rear-ended on tuesday morning. (Speaking of days of the week, I’ve been so confused on what day it was all week. I kept thinking yesterday was tuesday, I guess because tuesday felt so much like a monday…) Anyway, I’m alright, my neck is a little sore, I should probably call the doctor right now and try to get an appointment, blah blah. But on top of all that, tuesday night about 7:15 pm our power went out. We’d actually gotten through the worst of the storm that had started a little after 5:30 (just after I got home and was able to tape a drop cloth over the gaping hole in the back of my car, natch) and my mom and I were watching Sister Act 2 when the power suddently went out. Gaaaah. It was out for 25 and a half hours. We haven’t gotten to go through the freezers yet, hopefully some of it is salvageable…what a pain. Although I did get to break out some of my very nice smelling candles and attempt to read by candlelight.
We ate outside cause obviously no air was moving inside…it’s eerie how quiet a house/neighborhood can be when there’s no power. Also no fan at night to provide white noise. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well that night, what with the silence and my neck being sore.
but all’s well…it came back on while we were eating dinner, of course less than an hour after my dad had gone to the store so we’d have something to eat and some ice to keep the leftovers from going bad…I love irony, really. Good thing, because there seems to be a lot of that lately…
I think I’ve had a great week, don’t you?
This or That
1. “The Munsters” or “The Addams Family”? The Addams Family.
2. “The Sopranos” or the “Godfather” movies? Neither.
3. “The Jetsons” or “Lost in Space”? The Jetsons.
4. “Superman” or “Batman” (either the TV shows or the movies)? I have to say that it’s been so long since I’ve seen the Superman movies that I’m tempted to go with Batman, but if you’re going series wise I’d probably have to say Superman cause I only like the last two Batman movies.
5. “Sex & The City” or “Friends”? Friends. I’ve never seen Sex & the City.
6. “The Wizard of Oz” or the “Harry Potter” movies? Toughie cause both are great books made into pretty spectacular movies. I think right now I like Harry better…
7. “The Simpsons” or “King of the Hill”? The Simpsons, even though I never watch it.
8. “Grease” or “Saturday Night Fever”? Grease.
9. Old prime-time soaps: “Dallas” or “Dynasty”? Neither.
10. Not very thought-provoking this week…do you prefer TV shows or movies? Hard to say. Some tv shows are infinitely better than movies, and they last longer (like Buffy). but some movies make you fall in love with them and their characters (like Lord of the Rings). So I would have to reserve judgement till I find a movie *and* a tv show that are about the same subject so I can compare them 😉
In other news, I was in my first car accident today. Not my fault. See the other blog for details.
