PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 3.17 on time!

1. Postmodernism (a popular philosophy of the current day) indicates that there are as many “truths” as there are people; nothing is absolute (however, by its very nature, even the word “Postmodernism” resists definition). For yourself, what truths are absolute? Are there any absolute truths in the Universe? God, death and taxes…I’m a good artist and I can’t get away from that. I have too many interests. Murphy’s Law is alive and kicking. That’s more philisophical than I usually get.

2. Do you believe that you are still “teachable?” God, but I hope so.

3. To do something well, in most situations, requires study and practice. What’s the most recent thing that you have done well as a result of study and practice. Web design, probably, as I’m not studying and practicing guitar nearly enough.

4. If you had the time/money, what do you want to lean how to do more than anything? play guitar, and sew this darn costume.

5. Those around us may often try to intervene, but ultimately each individual is responsible for the choices they make in life. Tell me about a recent situation where you had a decision to make, and those around you tried to influence or direct you. Were they successful? Was that “help” welcomed? I like people to help me. I usually want to know what other people think about a situation even if I don’t plan to take their advice. I can’t actually think of a recent sitch where I was influenced…I haven’t been working so no decisions there, so perhaps it was something to do with web design…I don’t know. If you helped me with something, do tell so I can relate it 😉

6. Things are much easier to accept when they are given by invitation rather than being forced upon us. When was the last time you rejected something because it was forced on you? How did it happen? Did you hold a grudge about it? Was it ever resolved? umm. I’m sure this happens to me, but I’m not positive what to say. Maybe going to church. Not that it was really forced on me, and sometimes I like it, but I have to say most times I’d rather sleep than getting up for church. The part that makes me want to go is singing praise. I love to do that. Sometimes church/religion can be great, and I am sure God is watching over me, but I guess that makes me more spiritual than religious. Rambling, aren’t I?

7. Are you the sort of person who questions everything, or are you able to accept things without someone providing you tangible proof? I’m pretty good at accepting, but I do often like to know how the heck something was done. Probably why fantasy appeals to me. I can imagine it even if I can’t say how it works.

BONUS: Ooo baby, do you know what that’s worth? Sometimes. I also know we belong to the light, we belong to the thunder.

The Friday Five….rather late…

1. What was the last TV show you watched? er, on thursday night. movie wise, the Matrix and then Speed (the Keanu-a-thon was totally unplanned, I assure you) a little earlier in the night.

2. What was the last thing you complained about? Probably not having a job. Or at least that’s the last thing I pointed out.

3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say? Lammy…she’s learning html and graphics 🙂 I’m so proud of her!

4. What was the last thing you threw away? hmm. the chicken bones from dinner.

5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited? The Wizard’s Quest roster page. I moved up this week! Go me! 🙂

I don’t know if any of you noticed but etoiline.com was down for a bit on thurs night. For some reason the renewal email never made it into my inbox, and they didn’t send a reminder, which was rather irresponsible in my opinion, but luckily it was resolved and the site was back up in the morning. That was not a good night, let me tell you. Anyway, all is well, and ATTS will be here to serve you for at least another year 😉

Lammster, thanks for the call. It’s nice to hear your voice. Anyone who wants to call, you know how to reach me 😉

Movin’ on up

I won in Lothlorien!
Thanks for moving me up, folks. I’ve been in the forests of Lorien for several weeks now, and I finally made it back into the challenge! Means a lot to me. Of course, the wonder of all wonders would be to actually make it into the Tower in two weeks…anyway. Thanks for all your support and be sure to keep voting!
You might have noticed a bit of a snafu in the site on thursday night/fri morning, but all is well. There was a directional mishap with the renewal email making it to my inbox, and the company didn’t send a reminder which makes me just want to scream. Anyway, it’s all taken care of and etoiline.com will last for another year…and you can be sure I’ll get my renewal in on time!
There will be more content soon, really. Cause I’m sure you all want to know more about my life and my passions. Ha. Moll is inspiring.

Even though this isn’t really Etoiline.com, parts of it are hosted there, and this is the *first* site with Etoiline in the url, so it qualifies…and I can announce it here because gosh darn it, I own it!

One year, baby!

And in other news, Happy 27th anniversary, Mom & Dad!

I didn’t get an email for this meme this week, so I’m a few days late…

This or That

1. Yummier: Chocolate ice cream or strawberry cheesecake? Chocolate ice cream.

2. Better to watch on TV: Movies or sports? Movies.

3. A better web browser: MSIE or Netscape (or tell us your own favorite!) I use IE cause it has more design features…stupid Netscape not supporting CSS (I know I should upgrade, but this comp’s too old for it)

4. A better way to travel: Automobile or bus/train? I’ve not travelled by bus/train in forever, so I guess auto.

5. Your preferred camera: Digital or film? film cause I’m too poor to afford a digital one.

6. A Cooler Vehicle: Motorcycle or sports car? sports car. safer, anyway.

7. More fun: Video games or board games? Depends. Can’t play video games very well, but sometimes it’s fun to just push buttons and see what happens 🙂

8. Sexier: A perfect body or an intelligent mind? Intelligent mind in a moderately good-looking body.

9. A stinkier smell: Skunk or gasoline (petrol)? Skunk.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: What is more important to you: making a ton of money and being at the top of your field, or finding your soulmate and living a comfortable but not wealthy life? Soulmate, baby! Hey, I never said I wasn’t a hopeless romantic.

Happy Birthday, ATTS! and Happy 27th, ‘Rents!

One year, baby!
Thanks for stopping by. As of the weekend I’d had 6999 distinct visitors…a thousand for every layout change, lol. *lifts champagne glass* I’m glad I can make you happy…I really love it. Here’s to many more years.
Happy 27th, Mom & Dad!
Yup, that’s right, my parents have their 27th wedding anniversary today. I find it extremely amusing that I managed to buy my domain on my parent’s anniversary. I remember being so happy to be out of school and done with finals that I bought it about 1 am the day of and then when I got into the control panel I was like, hey that date’s familiar. lol. At least I’ll always know when I have to renew…Congrats, I love you, Mom & Dad.

PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 3.16

1. Now that the weather (in America, that is) is getting nice and warm, what have you been looking forward to doing the most? theoretically, being able to work out outside. Not that I’ve been working out inside or anything, but I like it when it’s warm out. That and going to San Deigo later in the summer.

2. On Easter, I had to run around all day visiting family. It turned what was supposed to be a special day and turned me into one big stress-ball. Do you enjoy spending time with your family (parents, siblings, etc.) or do you prefer to see them now and then? I love seeing family, but sometimes it seems like more trouble than it’s worth. I feel terrible saying that, but apparently our whole family is very volatile and getting ready to get together and then actually being together can get kind of hectic. But I love all of them anyway.

3. Did your parents play along with the whole “Easter Bunny” legend? Did you eventually figure it out or did someone tell you? How did that make you feel? We did do the Easter Bunny and such, but I don’t really remember what happened when I learned the truth. I don’t know if I figured it out or someone told me. But I don’t remember feeling traumatized by it, which I guess is a good thing. Same thing with Santa.

4. This isn’t necessarily a religious question (although it certainly can be if you’d like), but what does “Easter” mean to you personally? Well, usually it means going to church and singing the Hallelujah Chorus, easter lilys, and going to my uncle’s house for dinner. In my heart I know what it stands for, and sometimes I wonder how there are two such disparate “meanings” for this holiday. I mean, I know the Christian holidays are all basically adopted from pagan holidays, but still…how do you go from crucifiction to an easter egg hunt? I’m so grateful for what He did, it’s amazing, His sacrifice, but I have to admit I only really feel it when I’m singing praise.

5. When I was a kid, we didn’t have plastic Easter Eggs (except for those that came with Mom’s L’eggs pantyhose), so we always hid real eggs. One Easter I remember I threw away a broken egg in my bedroom trash can and it took me weeks before I realized why my room smelled like something died in there. Do you have any funny or memorable Easter stories? Well, this time we made the adults hunt for the easter eggs…I’m sure there’s more, but I might have told you this before…I don’t remember much of my childhood, other than it was happy.

6. I currently watch way, way too many TV shows. In fact, I feel some relief that some are being cancelled or are ending because I just can’t give any of them up. Is there anything you do too much of and just can’t stop? I read too much. But I don’t want to stop that.

7. Long ago, I took a leadership seminar. At one point the leader gave his philosphy on life: the three things that matter most in life are “your family, your religion and your job, and what they mean to you.” Would you agree? What are the three things that matter most in life? Hmm. as much as I wouldn’t mind it to be, religion isn’t a big part of my life. I definitely believe in God and know that He cares for me, and I’ve definitely had prayers answered. But it wouldn’t be second on my list. Maybe I’m a terrible selfish person, but I know I’m always looking out for me first. Not that I do anything to secure that position…family next. Maybe job then, even if I don’t have one right now. Perhaps feeding my imagination. I’m not too good with anything philisophical. I don’t really like it. There’s a reason I never took a philosophy class in college.

BONUS: Were you just being kind, or am I losing my mind? I think I’m losing mine too.

Rescue me! I’m in the south woods.
Yeah. I’m trying to play guitar. Does that sound like a broken record? I wish I could pick it up quicker. I just wanna play songs, and maybe write my own someday…I keep telling myself, someday this will be natural. yeah right. we’ll see.
