Remember Good Friday

The Friday Five

1. Who is your favorite celebrity? Right now it’s Orlando Bloom. Of course. James is close, dear Lammy, but Orli’s still my hottie of choice.

2. Who is your least favorite? Johnny Knoxville or Tom Green.

3. Have you ever met or seen any celebrities in real life? Wally Shawn, aka the Sicilian from the Princess Bride, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Gail Devers, John Mayer

4. Would you want to be famous? Why or why not? Sometimes I’d like to know what it’s like. Other times I’m happy to get to the grocery store without people following me around. Hey. Why knock it if you haven’t tried it? It would suck sometimes, sure, but at least you might get a sponsor…lol. jk. I just need money.

5. If you had to trade places with a celebrity for a day, who would you choose and why? lol. anyone who gets to kiss Orlando in his next movie. In reality, probably a singer like Michelle Branch. Course, I’d have to do some prep work with a guitar for that one, whereas the former requires no practice 😉

Time again for the Monday/Tuesday mime report:

PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 3.15

1. When I was a kid, I used to always get Strep Throat. I seemed to get it every year. Are there any illnesses that you seem more susceptible to than others? Not really. I tend not to get that sick, really. Just one big thing, not strep, just a cold or the flu.

2. A recent poll stated that “Michael” and “Ashley” are the number one baby names in New York. (However, in Oklahoma it seems like there are two or three girls named “Madison” everywhere you go). What are your favorite boy and girl names? What names do you think are trendy or overused? If you have children, would you give them the same name if you had another chance? When I was born, Jennifer was the most popular girl’s name, and my parents didn’t know it. That’s how I ended up in a first-grade class with three other Jennifers and a Jenna. Anyway. Names I think are good. I like Jonathan and Brendan for guys…Zachary you know if you read Moonstone…girls I’m not so sure about. Don’t know why I’ve never thought about it, but I haven’t. I’d love it to have some sort of nice meaning. I like Jennifer and I’d love for someone to be named after me, but not my daughter. Someone else close to me, maybe.

3. Any current songs on the radio (or elsewhere) that you think are pure crap? Why don’t you like it? I actually haven’t been listening to the radio recently…mostly listening to the Children of Dune soundtrack. Ahhh. Definitely not crap.

4. I used to play the trumpet in High School. I was never very good and always seemed to be last chair. I tried to play it again last week and it was a pretty sad sight. Can you (now or in your youth) play any musical instruments? Do you still play? I played violin and piano in fourth grade. Stopped the violin in fifth grade cause we bought the piano and not the violin. I attempt to play piano occasionally with some modicum of success, but in no way could I play a concert. I should really get my lazy duff in gear and keep learning guitar. I really must.

5. What is the most recent self-improvement program (fitness, weight loss, learning something new) that you began? Did you stick with it? Why or why not? Yeah. See above. Trying to learn guitar. And I really need to get working out again. Sad how you hate to do it when you’re doing it but when you’re not you miss it. sigh. that and the fact that I’m getting fat.

6. How would you look in a Hooters uniform? Uncomfortable.

7. Have you ever had a dream where you interacted with a celebrity (sex or otherwise)? What happened? I had a really weird Ricky Martin dream once, which I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice to say we sang together and I fell off the stage. There was one kiss, but nothing more…and I was wearing a raincoat. Yeah. Analyze that, Sigmund Freud. I did have a sort of celebrity dream if you count Orlando Bloom as Legolas as a celeb…yeah.

BONUS: Do you believe in love, do you believe it’s true? I’d love to believe in love. Haven’t got all that much of it coming my way though…

and This or That:

April 15: The Money Edition

1. File taxes as early as possible, or wait until the last possible minute? I’m lucky and can file electronically so I filed early.

2. File electronically, or mail paper forms? See above. I actually did my own taxes this year! go me.

3. Prepare your own taxes, or have someone do it for you? lol. Did it again. See above.

4. Are you a saver or a spender? I splurge. But I go for a while between spending, so it’s almost like I save…lol.

5. Do you prefer to carry cash, or pay with plastic (credit/debit cards), or by check? I like my debit card. But never credit. Cash if I’ve got it.

6. You’re broke and desperately need a job, but the only places that are hiring are retail or fast food places. Which would you pick? Retail. I hate smelling like food after I get home. And it’s scarily getting to the point where I’ll have to make that choice.

7. Keeping track of your money: are you more meticulous or careless about it? Thank goodness for monthly statements. I’m not so hot about marking it down on the check register.

8. What do you do if you find yourself with a lot of change weighing down your purse/pocket/wallet? Do you try to spend it to *get rid of it*, or do you put it in a jar or a piggy bank? I take out the change. The cash gets spent when it gets spent.

9. Which form of fake money do you like better…Monopoly money or those chocolate coins covered with gold foil? Chocolate money is so much more fun. Tastes better too.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You find a wallet containing $5,000 in cash, as well as several credit cards and the owner’s drivers’ license. Your rent is due tomorrow and you’re short $200. Do you take the money (some or all of it) and mail back the wallet anonymously…or do you return the wallet with all contents intact? Damn. I would have to hope that I’d give it all back. Most likely I’d look up the person in the phone book and ask if I could get 200 for finding it. lol. Yeah right. like I would pick up the phone. Anyway. I’d hope I’d be the good one to return it intact.

the friday five

1. What was the first band you saw in concert? I believe that would be New Kids on the Block. Go ahead, have a laugh on me.

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now? John Mayer or DMB. Or Jars of Clay.

3. What’s your favorite song? Egad. There are so many. Right now it’s Inama Nushif, the Fremen song from the Children of Dune soundtrack.

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be? Since I already play the piano (badly, since I don’t practice) I’d like to learn to play the guitar. Easier to carry around a guitar than a piano.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why? I have sort of met John Mayer, but I’d love to actually be around him when he’s writing a song. See how he gets his inspiration and such.

This was the first I’d heard about the song and very little information was available. Here’s the lyrics to that song I keep talking about, from the Children of Dune soundtrack. It’s a little like that song from Gladiator, indeed the whole soundtrack sounds quite a lot like Hans Zimmer in Gladiator and Black Hawk Down…but it has a voice all its own. And the composer, Brian Tyler, went through all Frank Herbert’s Dune books and used Herbert’s invented language, Fremen, to write this song. It’s so cool. Buy the soundtrack just for this song.

Though we deem the captive dead, yet does she live.
For her seed is my seed and her voice is my voice.
And she sees unto the farthest reaches of possibility.
Yea, unto the vale of the unknowable does she see because of me
Let it be deemed the captive lives, for the seed is our seed.
He sees far off in the possibilities and remains calm over the memories of grief.
Let it be thought of the captive, precious seed of my seed,
The desert weeps for the profound grief of the prevented voices.

Could I Be You

Standard

Something is wrong with the sum of us
That I can’t seem to erase
How can I be the only one
Without a smile on my face
[Chorus]
Well now, you’re laughing out loud
At just the thought of being alive
And I was wondering
Could I just be you tonight
You show your pain like it really hurts
And I can’t even start to feel mine
Well, I’m standing in place
With my head first and I shake, I shake
I see your progress stretched out for miles and miles
[Chorus]
You’re laughing out loud
At just the thought of being alive, yeah
And I was wondering
Could I just be you tonight
This is the sound that I make
These are the words I chose
Somehow the right thing to say
Just won’t come out
Just won’t come out
[Chorus]
And you’re laughing out loud
At the thought of being alive
And I was wondering
Could I just be you tonight
And I was wondering
Could I just be you tonight
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
And I was wondering
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
And I was wondering
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Yeah, and I was wondering
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
I was wondering, yeah
ach. Feeling a little depressed tonight. Not quite sure why. Probably the fact that I’ve been out of a job nearly two months. And I can’t get myself to call the medical examiner’s office to see if they have forensic training. Or Hanger to see if they’ll take newbies to teach them how to make prosthetics. Egad. Having an I-feel-worthless moment.
On the brighter side of things, got the spell-caster of the day award for 4-3.

This or That Tuesday:

Who is:

1. Sexier (female)…Pamela Anderson or Jennifer Garner? Jennifer Garner, really. Of course.

2. Sexier (male)…Ben Affleck or Matt Damon? Toughie. Usually I say Matt Damon. But Ben Affleck does look mighty good in Daredevil.

3. The better piano player…Billy Joel or Elton John? Billy Joel.

4. Funnier…David Letterman or Craig Kilborn? I never see Craig so I can’t really compare.

5. The dumber cartoon cat…Stimpy (of *Ren & Stimpy*) or Tom (of *Tom & Jerry*)? Stimpy. He is so stupid, I can’t even watch the show.

6. A better news anchor…Tom Brokaw or Dan Rather? Tom Brokaw is more interesting.

7. A better TV chef…Emeril Lagasse or Jacques Pepin? I never watch cooking shows. Emeril sounds more fun, but Pepin…that’s a great name.

8. The trashier talk show host…Maury Povich or Jerry Springer? Jerry.

9. The worse fast food burger joint…McDonald’s or Burger King? BK is worse for your body, but McD’s is worse to your taste buds.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: Only a handful of U.S. Presidents have been considered to be *great* Of the following two, which one do you consider to be greater…Franklin D. Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln? Why? whoa. Both were great men. I’d probably say FDR because of all the job work he did…and he was in office for four terms…and he had polio…but I sure wouldn’t want to be either one of them. I don’t envy the job of the Presidency at all.

PromoGuy’s Monday Mission 3.14

1. Would you rather impress or influence others? Why? Which do you tend to do more than the other? I suppose I’d rather influence others, but that’s not likely to happen. The most I’ve ever been able to do is impress.

2. Are you able to admit your weaknesses to others? How do you handle your weaknesses (Can you accept them and see them as a strength? Do you strive to overcome them? etc.) I have a hard time saying I’m wrong and that I need help. I’m pretty introverted so it’s hard for me to open up and tell people what’s wrong. So I suppose I can’t accept them all that well…but I’d like to overcome that.

3. How do you react when you are bossed around, treated as inferior or taken advantage of? Sometimes I like to get bossed around. Then I know exactly what I’m doing. But I don’t want to be made to feel inferior and I don’t like being taken advantage of. I usually get sulky.

4. Do you live your life to meet your own needs, or do you live to meet the needs of others? Why? Right now I’m just meeting my own needs. When I have a job that lets me have some extra I’ll take care of others.

5. This is your Mission on Mondays, but what is your mission in life? To get there. I don’t know where I’m going, but I’ll get there someday.

6. Can you focus on your goals and achieve them, or are you sidetracked by minor distractions along the way? I’m good at deadlines. But sometimes it’s hard to focus. Especially when there’s a good book or it’s too damn pretty outside.

7. When was the last time you cried? What were you feeling at that moment (anger, sadness, etc.)? I cried about not having a job and not knowing what I was going to do with myself. It’s tough to feel self-confident when no one will hire you.

BONUS: Who can it be knocking at my door? Maybe it’s the UPS guy with a package for me. Wouldn’t that be grand.
