Arizona Maxi Golf

Yes, we did indeed have a family night out. There's this place which used to be just the Concord Lanes (we used to bowl there, and they had a roller-skating rink) but now it's still got the bowling, but it's got a Maxi-golf (not mini-golf, mind you) course, with a nice setup...it's a cross between Native American and Mexico. I lost to both my parents. Ahem. I have stated repeatedly how much I hate regular golf, and while I don't loathe miniature golf, I am obviously not very good at it wink but there were some spectacular hole in ones, and some spectacular gimmies. Ah well. good clean fun. They've also got a climbing wall, so someday if I'm feeling athletic I might hop on over there. It could never be the same as when I tried it with Justin...the real thing is so much better. But at least it's something.

I need more sleep, so it's off to bed. Bon nuit!

Stage Shifter

I'm not really sure what that means, but that's what's on the green John Mayer shirt I bought at the concert last night smile Oh, happy Jen. Good weather, great songs, funny JM faces...

Went with my aunt Carol, this is probably the first time I planned to do something solely with my aunt. Good times smile We like quite a bit of the same stuff. It was either this concert or the DMB concert...I decided I liked JM better, and I'm quite sure that was the right decision to make.

Traffic was horrible, as usual. Whoever decided to put a major concert venue out in the middle of nowhere and make it hard to get to must be shot, or at least throttled. Maybe leave the shooting for whoever designed the parking lot. Impossible to get into and out of. We were slightly late...missed most of the opening act, Graham Coulton, which, from what we heard of it, sounded pretty good. You can check out some of his songs on the website, which I believe is just grahamcoulton.com but it's linked from johnmayer.com anyway.

Counting Crows came on first, they played for about an hour. I liked what they sang...Adam Duritz came out and said he was real sick, and that he was "hallucinating, and you all look like little rabbits." Er. We were afraid he was going to fall off the stage! He really looked drunk... sounded alright though smile Might eventually have to go back and get that first album. Maybe. Really cool backdrops. Flowers, paintings, stars...beautiful carpet of starfield that made me want to make a layout smile

By the time they were done it was 10ish...had to wait around quite a bit for John to come on, but when he did, you knew who people were there for smile it turned into quite an estrogen fest. Of course there were these two tall frat guys sitting (standing most of the time) in front of us, but luckily they didn't groove too much, so we could crane around them wink There were these two (getting quickly drunk) girls behind us who sang loudly for each of his songs...unfortunate. Of course, if I could have sung I probably would have. But I like to think that I would have at least been on key...

Started off with Why Georgia. Good stuff. Lots of songs from his first album, not quite as many songs as last years concert, which makes sense as he was only on for about half the time. Three (four?) new songs from the upcoming album Heavier Things, including the first single, Bigger Than My Body, and I liked all of them. The new stuff should be great. He played 3x5, my most favorite song ever, in the version that's on his live cd...great wonderful, amazing guitar work. He definitely inspired me to play. Someday my fingers will dance over the strings like that...

JM grimaces, pouts, looks sick and/or crazy while played some of his solos, but that's part of his charm. I think sometimes he looks great and pop-idol-y, but most of the time I'm just like damn that boy can sing/play. I wish.

Too bad it was just an hour and a little bit, even though he did play two songs for encore...a new song, just him and his guitar, and Neon, with the whole band. The only song missing was Love Song for No One...maybe he's found his "no one" wink

We spent a good hour getting out of the parking lot. I would never ever not in a million years and only if someone paid me millions work at Riverport as a traffic controller. Sheesh. And whoever thought of putting hotels and businesses along the plaza road to the venue wasn't thinking clearly. And only two lanes? sigh. Anyway. by the time I got home it was after 1 am. Not good for me who's still sick and needs sleep...but after this I've got nothing planned for at least a month... unless you count the possible midnight party for the TTT release on the 26th. We'll see. Sleep is good. And since it's after five I theoretically could leave...and sleep!

Ironic

Had a meeting with Dr. Nolta and Ivana today, cause Luigi wants to work with stem cells. Isn't it a small world? So maybe I'll get to work with stem cells after all wink

This site is quite amazing.

John Mayer concert tonight! Probably going to leave early because after the meeting I had nothing else planned...yay for traffic jams as I'm sure we're going to encounter...

Pirates has a really cool soundtrack.

Summer Sickness

Around Thursday afternoon sometime I realized my throat was a little raw. So even though I'd had a pretty big lunch I had some clam chowder I'd brought along, and that made it better...but then Friday came along and I definitely had a sore throat. Saturday I was coughing too, although not so much that I annoyed fellow movie-goers as I finally got my parents to see Pirates with me. Sigh. Today I had a stuffy nose. Still do as a matter of fact. Wish it weren't so. Silly sicknesses. I don't know if this is some bug I picked up at work, a bug my dad picked up at his work (he's not sick but a coworker is), a bug I picked up at Comic-Con (probably the most likely) but whatever it is it sucks. As I said, I saw Pirates for the third time, so the weekend wasn't a complete bust...finally got my copy of the soundtrack as well, so that was nice music to work with during my next attempt at a Will Turner portrait, based on this picture (which I'll attempt to scan sometime when it's finished...need to find a scanner that works with this old a version of Mac OS) and played a little bit of guitar. Badly, realize. Still very much learning. One of these days.

Since I've got a slight fever of 100, I'm heading to bed shortly even though it's only 11 pm. I hate being sick. Really. I also hate spam. No spam! It sucks! Goodnight...and don't forget to comment on the layout! What do you think of the first Orlando-less design?

Well, you did ask for it...

Here's a picture of me and Cathy at Comic-Con after the masquerade. I'm not sure the entire story behind the dolls...I'll figure it out later. Just so you know, I hadn't pulled my jerkin down as far as it should have been for this shot. The whole costume tended to shift upwards if I raised my arms any...hopefully there will be more soon. I'll let you know.

Comic-Con: the Big Deal

So, here's where I'll try to summarize my experience at the pop-culture behemoth that is Comic-Con. This will take me a while, so bear with me...

Wednesday morning, far too early for comfort, I rolled out of bed and remembered to pack everything last minute except my sandals. Not such a big deal but a bit annoying. Wore my contacts and a cute yellow v-neck. Sat on a plane for three hours, watched X2 for two and a bit of them, sort of to my chagrin cause I'd hoped to be able to sleep. Got to LA and was amazed by the palm trees. You don't see those in StL. Also don't see movie billboards on ever corner. Don't see them at all, really. Nor on buses or bus stop posters...We drove around, had lunch (at California Pizza Kitchen, natch) and then we were on our way to San Diego. Bright bright sun. My contacts were really bugging me so thankfully I had some sunglasses...but apparently there was something really wrong with my eyes cause I could barely keep them open the next day. sigh. you heard about that, I believe...Anyway, preview night was cool. we got to see everything before the rush of crowds. A good thing, that...cause it got really crowded. Got some free stuff and bought some postcards...so hopefully my friends in far off places will be able to get a little giftie...

Thursday was a bit crappy as I couldn't see most of the day. Spent the morning at the con and then came back. (Or did we? I can't remember what we did in the morning.) I was a bit worried cause I realized I hadn't contacted my partner-in-masquerading as to how we were going to get together at the con...thank goodness that worked out, thank goodness for the LotR_Costume group at Yahoo and thank goodness for Tammy. I slept quite a bit, didn't have lunch, and woke up in time to go to *a* mall in San Diego, which shows you how big the city is. I mean, we have a downtown, but there aren't nearly as many malls here...we were going to see Pirates that night but it was sold out. So we just had Pizzeria Uno's for dinner, which is grand. Funny how I didn't go to any place for food that they don't have here, save the Pacific Fish Co on the ground floor of our hotel...went swimming that night (never managed to get into my new suit though, was saving that for the beach, and well...read on)

Friday was better. Found out how to get in touch with my masq partner. Spent the morning at Coronado Island. Didn't see the famous hotel cause it was on the other side of the island and we didn't want to walk, lol. Did find some souvenirs and had some really great ice cream. I stood on the shore of the Pacific, finally. If it had been a little nicer weather we might have tried to make time to swim, but it was even a little chilly if you can believe it. Went back to the con and bought a Legolas doll, lol. It was the TTT version with Rohan armour...he looks pissed off. Maybe he's annoyed at the orcs. We met Jan again (person who took us to the mall) and went to see Pirates. Still good. Very happy. Will see it again...wonder if I'll end up seeing Pirates or Seabiscuit first with my parents...one way or another I'm going to get them to see Pirates. Came back, without eating more than ice cream for lunch and chips for dinner to work with Cathy on the masquerade skit. We thought it was pretty funny. We did end up getting laughs, but more about that later...up far too late and stayed up later looking at the complete FotR and TTT movie card decks I bought. Yes, I'm just in it for the Lord of the Rings.

And now we come to Saturday. Sigh. I missed Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry cause they were in the morning while Cathy and I were at Masquerade Orientation. Saw Dominic Monaghan as I was leaving the orientation. At first I didn't realize his bodyguard was a bodyguard; just thought it was someone dressing like Agent Smith. But then I realized he was actually protecting someone. I saw the clothes first and Dom was just wearing a grey tee and jeans, and by the time I actually processed his face (he had a cute little grin going) I was walking past him. Did a double take, I can assure you. If I'd have been quicker on the draw I might have run back to him and asked for an autograph or picture or something, but I'm not that fast nor am I that bold. So I at least breathed the same air as a celebrity for a while...

Met up with Lammy and Ire (her sister) and Banica (her friend) in the Kevin Smith talk. Sorry Alex, no autographs. He was pretty damn funny. And after his talk it was the New Line panel, and that was exciting. We had to sit through a 'Freddy vs Jason' spiel (not gonna see that movie) but then Richard Taylor came out and started talking about LotR :) yay! Andy Serkis talked a little as well. They had a great costume/prop demostration, there was a Galadrim elf, a Rohan warrior, Lurtz (the big-bad Uruk-hai, in full gear) and a hobbit lass. One of the armourers started making a sword. Some lucky person with the right ticket got to take it home. The hobbit lass had to be checked over by someone who really knew their hobbits...the aforementioned Dom. Later Elijah Wood and Sean Astin showed up, and they all talked a bit. We saw some behind the scenes stuff, Andy Serkis' audition tape, and what we were all waiting for, the preview to RotK. It was only three minutes of the 12 that will be on the dvd in August (should I pre-order or wait to see if they have another giveaway like they did last year? Let me know!) but it still looked neat. I can't believe the change Frodo goes through. And everyone says this is the best movie of the three, and the battle of Pelennor Fields makes Helm's Deep look like a minor scuffle. We'll see. Can't wait!

Unfortunately I didn't get to see anything else that day, really, cause by the time I'd eaten a (very) late lunch (about 4 pm) it was time to meet up with Cathy do practice the skit. But she'd gone to try and get Lij's autograph. Don't know if she ever even got it, but needless to say she was gone a pretty long time. Went to check in for the Masq and started getting dressed...put the ears on, did the side braids...had to wait a while for someone who knew how to do a fishtail braid so they could do the one in the back. No wig for me, too much trouble. Just me and my black hair, eh. At least the clothing was right! We had a pretty funny skit about the Lothlorien Beauty Care line, but I'll spare you the details. The bad thing was that there were no mikes so dialogue had to be taped. And the tech people started the music before the mc (who happened to be Robert Englund of Freddy Kruger fame) stopped introducing us. So we lost the timing, but there were laughs at the end, so I guess we were either actually funny or they were laughing at the problems we were having. My quiver almost slipped off cause one of the buckles wasn't in all the way...ah well. There was even a little Pirates tribute. The masq lasted most of the night, so I was very happy to get back to the hotel and sleep. Had to pack though...and there was the *sniff* moment when I remembered I had to go back to StL the next day.

So sunday comes, and we headed off to the con for one last time. Just walking around, trying to see some of what we hadn't before, but still didn't get to see everything. Lammy did manage to find a Pirates bag which she'd been looking for all evening. I wish I could have gotten some more free stuff. Alas. I'd just have to find someplace to put it anyway. I was sorely tempted to buy the deluxe gift set from FotR with all the character dolls in it...$60 which wasn't too bad and I even had the money, but how was I to get it home on the plane? So I settled on the FotR Legolas doll. They're so cute. This one doesn't look so pissed off. I'll keep them forever. Had to open them last night to see how all the little pieces fit together...too bad I didn't have them when I was trying to make the costume!

We made the drive back to LA, and I felt bad that we couldn't spend more time there. But I got the absolute last flight back into StL that you could get and it still be sunday night. The flight was a little bumpy but uneventful...there wasn't even a movie, just CBS's Eye on American which was a bunch of shorts from CBS shows. Didn't watch too much of it, wrote some Moonstone instead. So the story is advanced :) it's sort of coming together.

I think that's all of it. If you managed to read this far, congratulations. I don't have anything for you. If you ever have a chance to go to CC, I recommend it, but just dress up for the con, don't do the masq, unless you've got a big group. Bring lots of money and be prepared for your feet to hurt; mine still do. And try to stay longer than the con. I wish I could have. On the whole, I'm happy, I got to do a little theater, and sort of felt like an elf. If nothing else I'll have a great halloween costume ;)

guess I should get back to work now.

well, I'm here

in lovely San Diego for Comic-Con. I can't believe we're actually here. It seems odd that after so long of talking about it that it's finally being done. Preview night was last night, there looks like there's some great stuff there. Can't wait to see celebrities smile

I'm really tired, which isn't so odd, but my contacts did something to my eyes so that it hurts to have them open for too long. Or at least the left eye. So I can see out of one eye...I should get an eyepatch before we see Pirates tonight. lol. We'll meet up with another Arrow for dinner and the movie smile

We did decide to get internet access, which is grand. I don't understand why I have to clean out hundreds of spam messages...stupid spam. why do people do it? bleh.

I did a bad thing and didn't arrange how to meet up with the person I'm doing the skit with. sigh. I don't even know where she's staying or what the name of her booth is or what her last name is...meh. there could be trouble then. eek. what if I had to do it by myself? and what if my eyes aren't ok for the blue contacts, or any contacts for that matter? yesh. I'm not going to worry about that right now because I'm going to take a nap. Maybe when I wake up everything will be better.

It's almost like magic

An automatic paper towel dispenser was just installed in most of the bathrooms on the med school campus. Now, normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but the particular dispenser in the bathroom I use is at just the right height that you have to gesture at it rather forcefully to get the sensing mechanism to spit out a towel. Now, call me crazy, but certain times, it seems like this gesture would be perfect if you were casting a spell. Silly, I know. But you wave your hand, and voila! une serviette!

Ok...we've finally gotten to the point where in 24 hours I will be in California. Whew! I can't believe it's finally here. Seems odd that all the work I've been doing over the past year will finally be good for something. Hopefully people like our skit. Sympathy laughs are bad. And I can't wait to see all the famous people! lol. There's me, the Midwesterner, who never sees celebrities in the flesh. And isn't it sad how happy I am that I'll be seeing Pirates again wink Needless to say I'm excited. I wish I could stay longer.

I'm mostly packed. I think. I'll go home and stare at the suitcase for a while to make sure. I've got to get pictures of it...then run out and find a suitable one-hour place to develop them...erm. I still haven't decided...wig? hmm.

Don't forget to vote for ATTS today smile please? Thankee kindly!

I don't feel like I'm finished

...but for all practical purposes the costume is finished. I keep thinking there's something I'm missing. There probably is, and it's probably not the nagging feeling that I don't have a pouldron. Nor a sword. But I can't think of what I could be missing. I tried it all on tonight, looks rather realistic for all that half of it is synthetic fabric. Dad cut out the knives, they're all bright and shiny and if I remember, I'll "etch" them with my little paint marker. I must always remember that I can make things simpler. Don't rivet when you can tie. I'll need a buddy to help me get the quiver fastened, and hopefully someone can braid my hair. I can try it myself but damned if it doesn't work very well. I'll bring the wig, just in case, but meh.

Need a blank tape to dub "I Feel Pretty" on. I hope it's a funny skit. Not that I really want to make fun of Legolas...but heck. It's not like I'm gonna win Best in Show, but maybe we can make them laugh their pants off...

Please remember to vote. The link is everywhere on the page. I know I won't win anything there, but hey...at least people love me!

I really wish our scanner worked...I'm quite proud of my peacock quiver and leg wraps/vambraces. Hopefully that attention to detail will make people overlook the bad fit. Ah well. Never claimed to be a tailor. Although I have to admit I've got the sewing bug. At least I can thread the needle and make a semi-serviceable buttonhole smile

I want to be in a costume drama. lol. I've got a lot of dreams. I hope I'll be able to write some of my stories while I'm gone. btw, in case I didn't mention it, part III of Decadence is up. It's a bit of a boring part cause it's just background, but hopefully you'll like it anyway. As always, feel free to leave feedback!

and because someone asked:

Does Logolas die in the third movie?

Unless they're doing a major departure from canon, no, Lego doesn't die. He's around plenty long enough for us to drool.

It's never easy

I found out that instead of the sure lose I was going to have last week in the Wizard's Quest I instead moved onto the Tower. Now, this is the highest level of competition in this particular comp, and I've never made it there before. So I'm happy to be there, even if it is a bit of a fluke that I got there. Now the problem is thus: I had planned on taking a leave of absence this week, as I'll be gone at Comic-Con starting Wednesday. But if you take LOA in the Tower, you drop back down to your team's high-qualify level. So I'm asking everyone nicely to please vote for my site even though I might not be able to return the favor. You can take days off next week. Like I said, it's never easy. And for those of you just stopping by... PLEASE VOTE! just click the link:

http://www.thewizardsquest.com/tower/

I'll love you forever. I know I probably don't have a chance, but at least I'd like to make a showing!

And now onto the slightly less dilemma-ish:

I tried on most of the costume today. Looks alright, I suppose. Wish I had a mannequin so I could have gotten the seams a little closer to my proportions. but eh. whatever. Finished the gosh darn quiver today! And it looks near like what it's supposed to...although getting it on and off isn't the easiest thing to do. The buckles are just a little bit on the small side (no offense to my most wonderful jewelry major cousin Corey who cut them out of nickel for me) so the leather doesn't just slide through. Ah well. There will be plenty of people out there who'll be able to help me out, I'm sure. Started on the "blades" for the white knives, it will be interesting to see if they actually stand up straight. Hopefully. I might have time to make a scabbard or two, we'll see. I only put one set of clasps on the silver frock because you can't see anything else but the one when I'm wearing the whole thing. Might put snaps on so I don't have to wear the whole thing the whole time, but that might be later....

I need to pack. Please dear God let me consolidate well. Please vote. It would make me happy.

I was doing so well

about not being spoiled for who dies in HP #5. But a girl who signed my guestbook provided a link to her site, which I visited, cause I'm nice like that. She does have a disclaimer on her site that says it contains spoilers for OotP, so I went to close the window, but caught sight of the splash graphic at the top of the page. It said "Tribute to -----" or somesuch, and yep, that's who died. Arrgh. Hon, if you're gonna have spoilers, put the disclaimer *before* the images that spoil! sigh. Although I wonder if this person is really gone. Oh, I know, they say that this one really is out of this world, but it just doesn't seem like it's final to me. I mean, in GoF, the person who dies seems really dead, you know, body on the ground and everything. This time...I don't know. Maybe just wishful thinking.

Finished the fifth book around 10:30 this morning. Only had to read about 30 pages, cause I was up til 2:30 reading. Silly me. I probably could have finished it last night, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. It was nice to have part of it to read this morning. Went by much quicker than I expected. I figured it would take me four days, at least three, to finish, cause it took me three to read the 4th... but just about two days, that's it. Probably cause I read all day at work on Friday. Good, fast paced, definitely darker. Lots of characters. Some you really love to hate. Glad I got to read it now, but yeah. Definitely waiting to buy the paperback.

Mom had a booth at Heart Hands & Voices today. I think it was a success...I didn't really work it (bad me) I was fletching arrows. All five finished. They're never gonna fly straight, indeed I'd be surprised if they flew at all, but that's not really the point, is it? Two green and three yellow, canon be damned. That's what I had smile oh, if you ever need a quill pen, let me know. I'll cut you one from the many I've got left. Red, blue, some yellow, fake turkey. white or black. Your choice!

Did someone declare holiday and not tell me?

It's just now 4:48 pm, and everyone is gone already. I realize it's Friday, but they've all been gone for at least a half hour. Not that I'm complaining. I'm out the door too, and it's not like I have work to do to keep me here. It's just odd that everything's locked down already.

HP update: I'm on page 578. Between 11:21 am and 12:48 pm I read 236 pages...then I had lunch. So I've read a little over 400 pages today. So far. Hmmm.

Well. Better get home so I can work on the costume. Mustn't forget the buttons as I keep seeming to. Wish me luck!

There's a new tech that came today...he's supposed to work with Luigi, but Luigi isn't here, remember? This guy (Jesse) drove all the way down from Vermont to do some research over the summer, and now his guy isn't even here...he goes to Dartmouth. Ooooh. Ivy League.

Foolish Grin

ahhhh. Pirates was sooooo good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will gladly go in for another screening as soon as I can. Which will probably be with Lammy during the convention, because with my mom's art show this weekend it will be amazing if I manage to get packed. Too bad...I'd see it again right now if I could.

I have to say it was glorious to see Orlando on the huge screen. Me happy. Since I saw the movie with Alex and Russ I didn't feel it would be appropriate to gush and drool about the hottness factor...but I know I had a big, stupid, adoring grin on my face throughout most of the movie. Orlando plays Will perfectly. There were a few moments when I was like, egad, hope he didn't choke on that corn while he delivered a line, but on the whole he was perfect for the son-of-a-pirate-who-hates-pirates-but-still-manages-to-be-one role. :)

heheh. Nice hat. Even Johnny thinks Orlando's hat is sexy ;)

Johnny Depp was superb. How he managed to keep all that kohl around his eyes on even after repeated dunkings...if only the rest of us could go around all day with makeup artists. But he played the part of a pirate who you're not sure if he's drunk or just a little daft in the head to the hilt. Hilarious, well thought-out, thoroughly immersed in his role.

The special effects were great, I loved the fight sequences. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to understand the pirates yelling over the din of the fighting. The pace of the movie is lightning-fast, and you get to a point in the movie where you go, wait a minute, are we supposed to be here yet? But it all seems to work out, if a bit repetitively. I do have one burning question about Will (and Elizabeth for that matter)and his piece of Aztec gold, but on the whole they did a surprisingly good job about weaving the mythology and advancing the story. Unlike some recent movies this one actually had a plot. I don't think the love story was thrown in at the last minute at all. It was convincingly angsty.

At the risk of sounding more of a simpering obsessed fan (I completely realize I am one, though, so it doesn't really matter, does it?), the first look at Orlando is just gorgeous. And funny :) He's so clean-cut and righteously indignant and proper, and then his shirt just keeps falling open and lets his hair down...ahhhh. Must go see it again with a fellow wpoggian and share a drool bucket.

On a totally different tack, I got a notice from the library that my copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has come in! Hot damn for me! I was worried about having reading material for the trip. No more! Yes! I will finally be able to sate my curiousity...and talk about it with my cousin! :) lol.

Tonight tonight, hot damn tonight

Whee! Pirates today! Only 6 hours and a bit...

Come on. the hat is cool. Egad I want his outfit...yeah, reawakening those urges to go out on Halloween as a Pirate...at this rate I'll be making costumes for the next few decades...

I love this movie already

from Out Now

ssshhh...don't tell anyone, but I painted the bracers for my costume today at work. I'm so bad. But it's not my fault that DSL didn't get back to me about the ELISAs...

Because I love the hat

Did I mention how I love hats in this style? When the Three Musketeers came out I wanted to be a musketeer just so I could get the hat. That and the pretty sword. lol. I'm definitely like Keira when she says she wants a sword wink

really, I want the hat
Think he got tired of wearing tights all the time?
I won't fit into that dress

Tomorrow

Pirates comes out tomorrow! Unfortunately the preview screening that I found is only for those with invitations, which is pretty mean, as it doesn't say that anywhere on the site...so I'll have to wait till tomorrow like the rest of the fanatics out there. Ah well. Makes me peevish cause some people won't be able to go cause of previous engagements. Foo.

Since you all want to know more about Orlando...sheesh. Can this man get any better?

I tried to fletch some arrows last night. Rather interesting if I do say so myself...good God please let me finish on time.

Don't forget to vote, please smile the links are right below this line!

Help, please

Please Vote for this site! I'm at a really high level of competition and up against a wonderful opponent. I can use all the help I can get! Thank you oh so much smile I'll have to make a graphic giftie for all my supporters. I hope I can!

Eeggh! Gotta get tickets for PotC smile I think we're going to see the preview show on tuesday, as long as they still have tickets...gotta get some feathers for fletching, check on the money issue...finish the gosh darn quiver...and think up a masquerade skit! Anyone know where I can find the songs Lego sings (what book they're in?)

a funny joke from this article in the NY Times:

What kind of movies do pirates like best?

The ones that are rated Aarr!

Here they come...hmmm.

Here they come!

I really can't wait til the 9th

5 days, 5 days! Eeek! I'm so excited smile it's silly, I know, but damn it looks exciting. I really have that feeling where I absolutely cannot wait for the 9th. I might not have to, the theater by my house is supposedly having a showing on the 8th at 7:30. we'll see. It's like waiting for TTT...and you all know how crazy I was about that. This isn't quite the same, I don't think, after all I didn't do a layout just for Pirates smile but I am going on a picture posting spree. Feel free to drop what you're doing and stare wink

Will and Elisabeth

Will and Elisabeth

such a cool fight scene!

I can't wait to see some swashes buckled smile This is definitely an over-use of smileys post...

for whoever asked about it...

whats the name of the girl Orlando is supposedly dating? and do you agree its just a rumor?~hoping in New York

yay, someone actually used the 'ask me anything function! lol. Anyway. The answer to your question is Kate Bosworth, one of the actresses in the movie Blue Crush, which I haven't seen. It might be a rumor, it might not...some reputable magazines have reported them together but still others restate his claim that he doesn't have time for anyone. Personally I don't really care if Orlando is going out with anyone anyway, because a) it's highly unlikely that I'll ever meet him and b) also highly unlikely that he'd like me anyway because he prefers blonds, so I will go ahead and have my crush on him anyway and ignore those silly little caveats.

Bonnie has a new layout smile I really need to make a new one! Probably after Comic-Con. I swear I have a great idea, really. It's just getting around to doing it...ah, procrastination.

Another countdown

Eeeggghhh! Six days! Pirates in six days! Arrr! smile Why can't I buy tickets yet?

Underworld looks exciting, yes? Doesn't it sound a lot like Decadence? I swear I started writing that before I ever knew there was such a movie...

I painted the peacock on the quiver last night...now I have to figure out the strapping! I have slightly yellow-tinged fingers on my left hand from spilling the leather dye...and there's probably a patch of dead grass from same...but at least I got the belts dyed without too much other damage...Majorly confusing strappage. What I wouldn't give for a digital camera. I really would post pics of my progress, but I'm too lazy to do it with a conventional camera. Besides, our scanner is too old to be hooked up to the iMac so we can't scan anything anyway. Doesn't that suck? We'll probably have to get a new scanner, even though the old one wasn't inexpensive...course, that was five years ago, but it's still expensive to my dad.

Mmm. Back to data entry. Silly DSL kit...my EIA isn't working! Don't mind that last sentence...if it made sense to you, you're a science nerd like me smile

Six days!

Go Me! Er. Thanks to you, of course.

I finally made it to 1000 for the Diamond Web Awards. Just thought you'd like to know. And feel free to increase that number smile Oh yeah, don't forget to hit the other vote link at the bottom of the post!

It really sucks when you don't write something down cause it seems so obvious to you when you wrote it down...then three weeks later you have no idea why you didn't write it down, cause it's been too long since you did the procedure...rats. But no worries. Got it all good.

Costume update: Aside from my analness, I'm done with the clothing for the costume. Now it's the props that are going to kill me...but as I've said before, I live for deadlines. Er. Yeah.

Since the last Pirates picture was so well received I had to go get some more...for your droolworthy pleasure (unless you're a guy, and then, I'm sorry, but hey, you get Keira Knightley!) I'm very excited about this! 7 days! whoohoo smile
